Hey guys – my name is Katie and I’m going into my 4th Year at Uni of Leeds studying Music and Music Psychology, and I am applying for the role of ‘Head of Hometime’ on LSR’s Committee for 2022/23.

LSR has been a wonderful part of my life since my first year at Leeds, where I began as a timid presenter on ‘Jazz, Funk & Soul’. When my confidence grew, I created my own show, Mood Booster, with my housemates in my second year and I have adored every minute. Within the last year I have continued to develop Mood Booster and I also went on to expand my experience with Hometime, where I really feel like I began to blossom. I have loved being able to work with a variety of lovely and creative presenters in such exciting two-hour slots, during which we have listened to such a great variety of music, spoken about some diverse matters and had great fun playing some hilarious games. I owe a lot to Hometime for my personal development as a radio presenter, and so I would love to give back and help organise the teams in the next academic year.

But why would I be good for the role? Firstly, I believe myself to be a bubbly and friendly character and I absolutely love working with people; Head of Hometime would allow me to meet LSR members from a variety of different teams and this possibility really excites me. Secondly, I believe that I am a strong leader who is good at communicating, organising and allocating jobs, which I think that I have demonstrated with my experience in various other society committees during my time at university. Finally, I am a nerd for admin jobs: I love being productive, so whether that requires sorting applications or organising events, you can rely on me to get things done.

All in all, being Head of Hometime would be an absolute honour. Radio is something that I began on a whim during my first year and it is now one of my all-time favourite things to do and I can’t thank LSR enough for that. I would be delighted to be involved in the running of the society in my final year alongside other like-minded people who want to make the station the best that it can be.
