Hi guys! I’m Hollie and I hope to be your next Head of Breakfast. So far I have really enjoyed my time at LSR on both Breakfast and Hometime shows and I feel like it’s really made my University experience and I hope to do the same for other members! I understand how stressful University can get at some points with deadlines and personal conflicts, but I hope to continue to keep LSR a safe space where that kind of melts away. I want to encourage more interaction between members giving people the chance to meet one and other and experience University together. I also want to make waking up and coming into uni for 9am something people look forward to. Thank you for considering me, hopefully I’ll see you soon!

I’m Daria and I’m a first year in Communication and Media.

I have been part of LSR Breakfast both semesters, allowing me to meet great people whom I’ve learnt so much from in the two hours in the studio we have spent together each week (one of them being my best friend whom I have created a new show with). Choosing LSR Breakfast has upped my presenting, improvisation, communication, and control skills as well as being the best choice to get my foot through a radio studio because of the freedom given to chat about anything and everything without an agenda, as well as playing our favourite music and games to wake us up.

Why should you vote for moi?

As the new head of Breakfast, I want to create a tighter relationship between members by organising a range of socials (with and without alcohol) not only in conjunction with our Hometime friends of course but also between Breakfast members themselves. I’d love to take on the role of Big Sister for everyone to turn to both on and off air as I plan to rotate shows each week to be a guest in each of the groups. I’ll also make group chats on messenger to check in and make sure everyone is enjoying what they are doing and address any concerns. Socials speaking, I’ll give access to every group to the LSR Breakfast Instagram page for you to post stories and promoting your shows whilst I’ll focus on the feed itself by posting more interactive and diverse content such as:
- introducing each group’s members;
- weekly themes to be discussed in the shows;
- members’ past week’s favourite tune, movie, food, anecdote;
- members’ predictions for the next week;
- weekly games;
- engagement winners of the month: a small monthly competition to see which group gets the most listeners and/or engagement on social media would be a good way to promote the Breakfast show to a wider audience (can be done in conjunction with Hometime too).
At the end of each semester the winning group will have the opportunity to broadcast from a coffee shop (tba)!!

Breakfast Club

Being part of LSR Breakfast has helped me be more productive in the mornings despite my struggles with having the most important meal of the day. For this matter, I thought it would be beneficial to keep a breakfast snacks shelf in the office or invest in a kettle that makes it easier for people rushing in the morning and for anyone else needing a boost pre-show.

Hi there!

My name is Jenna, I am a first year studying International History and Politics and have been a part of LSR since September and in such a short time have formed a close connection with the society, appearing on News of the Week, Breakfast and Hometime and I am running for Head of Breakfast!



I have been co-hosting Wednesday Breakfast since the beginning of Semester 2, implementing fun segments such as Wordle Races and judging Redditors on the ‘Am I the A-hole’ page…

More Hometime/Breakfast collaborations– especially for charity!



Red Nose Day 2022 was a major success – If elected Head of Breakfast I would endeavour to work with the Hometime team to plan more live charity radio specials AND society trips to Fruity!



Extra training and intro recordings



Training for newcomers to LSR is always successfully undertaken in September and January. If elected Head of Breakfast I would elevate this, offering supplemental training to anyone who wants to brush up mid-way through term and would make myself available to anyone who wants this session.



Also, for new breakfast teams I would set aside time before the first show to record personal intro BEDs for each team of hosts.



Engagement with the breakfast teams



I will make sure I am available as often as possible for the Breakfast Team – whether that is to run ideas for segments, troubleshoot problems in the Studio or anything else, I will organise my schedule around LSR in order to be available when needed.



Socials



I would absolutely love to arrange more socials – between Breakfast and LSR as a whole!

I am absolutely passionate about Radio and love love love hosting Breakfast – a vote for me would be a vote for a Head of Breakfast who does everything she can to make sure society members are comfortable, happy and having fun!

Head of Breakfast! The position that appealed to me pretty much following the LSR induction.

So, I'm here to pitch myself to take this role on...
I present to you.. a reliable, approachable and chatty mega extrovert that always tries to bring people together.
As I've been on the scene for the last year I have gained a fairly good idea of how good content works. So be sure to expect fresh ideas, games, and quality quiz content every week.
On top of this, as an avid organiser of nights out, I found my favourite way of properly getting to know other members were the socials, that's something I want to put weight on. This is such a brilliant way of getting to know your radio groups and bringing new members together!
So, prepare yourself for regular get-togethers at boozy bingo, quiz nights as well as our favourite club venues.
Aside from this, radio presenting has been a career goal of mine for a while. LSR provides infinite opportunity and I'd be so proud to represent that as part of the committee.
Also I've found taking LSR out of the studio so fun, and amplifying that recognition outside of the studio so I want to push for new affiliation's outside LSR with the likes of Headrow and Belgrave and promote all of this to the max through social media.

How could this not all sound even a little bit tempting? and I have jokes! Lots of them, loads.
After alll, what do true joksters eat for breakfast?
