I am running for head of news as I have been an active member of the team over the past year, and I want to give others the chance of having the same wonderful experience that I have been given. Alongside the creation of news bulletins, podcasts, and shows, I hope to provide members with workshops including tips and tricks on how best to report the news and how to make a career within the world of news. I would also like to focus more on University news and give students a chance to make their voices and opinions heard. I will create a friendly and fun environment, whilst still being able to report on all the important stuff. Vote Bella for Head of News!

Hello besties! After one year away on placement I am very happy to be back on your LSR airwaves very soon! For those of you who havent met me, hi Im Rae (they/them) and I am a final year Ancient History and History student.

Now that the boring admin stuff is out of the way, I have decided to run for Head of News as I was very involved the year before and while I have big shoes to fill as Tom and Izzy did such an amazing job last year, I think Im up for the challenge of filling those shoes and I hope you will agree!

In terms of what I want to do, there are a couple of main things! 1.) Firstly I want to keep the momentum going from last year. In particular, 'the latest' Podcast seems like a lot of fun and Izzy and Tom were able to interview tons of great people and so I want to keep that up.

2.) I am also going to try and diverse your news a little bit. While understanding the goings-on in the UK is obviously important, I want to try and cover as much global news as possible and so I would make a concerted effort to cover the big stories in Africa or Asia as well. I also have an interest in all sorts of fun stuff so I think including weekly sports or LGBTQ+ coverage would be great fun. I think by doing so we can include more guests as well as generate more interest in applying for news.

3.) The world is also a very sad and scary place at times so I would like to put a positive spin on the news and try to include some more happy news stories as well as covering everything else however small or insignificant those stories may seem. So basically, if you any news story, whether its about a massive topic or just something fun that you are interested in, I will try and find time to squeeze it into our show!

As we all know, news is a core part of not just LSR, but daily life. It's how we learn about what's going on in the world around us and we can use it to form decisions about people, situations and what we believe to be morally right.

Now, let's be a little less serious. I'm Eve and I'm currently a co-presenter of Rock & Punk, Indie and Alt Hour numero dos and The Science show. I'm running for Head of News because I currently write for NCS and I wish to broaden my journalistic horizons. I'm easy to talk to and have proven I can manage my time and a team from the effort I have attributed to all three of my shows.

Next year, I want to continue the news podcast and social media and grow it even more. I would love to organise more interviews with students and local people in the public eye, such as MPs and councillors to talk about current affairs. I would communicate with the live team to make this more possible too.

As a new concept, I would like to set up a team within the news and live teams as a collaboration, where there is a specific presenter allocated to different genres/aspects of news, so there is always someone ready to speak about this topic if there is a breaking news bulletin ever needed.

I would be so happy to be the Head of News next year and I hope to bring so much to the role.

Hey ! I'm excited to be standing to be one of LSR's Head of News for 22/23

If you don't know me already I am an International History & Politics student and in the past year I have been involved in LSR Breakfast, Hometime, a few one-off LSR specials as well as my own podcast LGBTQ&A

I am also currently the News Editor of The Gryphon and have written articles for the Yorkshire Post

I have a firm understanding on the basics of how to research and produce an excellent news story and would foster a loving and supportive team so everyone can learn from each other and reach their full potential

As Head of News I would focus even more on reporting on local and campus stories as that is our best selling point. We are, after all, in a position to report on what matters to students more accurately than any other broadcaster

I would ensure that we are a platform for marginalised groups and voices and would be unafraid to challenge the University when necessary

I would also forge stronger ties with The Gryphon so we can pool resources when covering stories on campus
