Hi I am Millie, I would love to be the welfare secretary next year! I've been part of the boxing society for 4 years now and I've really enjoyed my time here and want to make it as inclusive and welcoming as possible. For the past 2 years we have introduced some girls only sessions, this has really helped increase our female participation. Boxing wasn't a sport I ever thought I would get into, but I'm so glad I have and it's led me to so many opportunities, from winning a gold medal at BUCS to being part of the creation of a mixed reality demo. I would love to get more people to try out boxing by doing more collaborations with other societies, Boxing has been such a support network for me during my time at uni and has really been a good outlet for stress, I think so many people would benefit from it and I am really passionate about increasing participation. As welfare secretary I also want to be there to support everyone in the society, whether it be boxing related or not. I will do this through managing the welfare forum and I am an approachable person who is happy to talk through any wellbeing issues and direct people to relevant support when needed. I also have had experience competing so have an understanding of the pressures and stresses associated and with this and how to support the fight team.
