Hi, my name is Maryam, I am currently a fourth-year medical student with a strong passion for widening participation, education, and supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds. Coming from a widening participation background myself, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate the journey into medicine without access to guidance, mentorship, or support networks. These experiences have motivated me to give back and help make medicine feel more accessible and achievable for others. I am also particularly interested in getting involved with teaching and outreach activities, as I currently teach part-time and genuinely enjoy mentoring and supporting students in their learning.

As Secretary, I would ensure the society remains organised, efficient, and well-coordinated. I am reliable, approachable, and capable of managing responsibilities effectively. I would make sure emails and communications are responded to promptly, meetings are organised efficiently with clear agendas and minutes, and that committee members feel supported throughout the year. I understand the importance of teamwork and communication within a committee, and I would always be willing to offer help wherever needed to ensure events and projects run smoothly.

Beyond the administrative responsibilities of the role, I would bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine commitment to widening participation. I would love the opportunity to help create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged, informed, and inspired to pursue medicine regardless of their background.

Hi, my name is Izzy and I am very excited to be running for secretary of A2M. I am very passionate about widening participation in medicine and helping people from different backgrounds to have a chance to build a medical career. I have previous experience on a committee, as the former president and competition captain of gymnastics society, and I hope to transfer the leadership, communication and organisational skills I built there into an academic society. As secretary I will ensure that the society is well organised, emails are responded to in a timely manner, as well as ensuring that the rest of committee is well supported by offering help when and where is needed.
