My name is Anne, and I am delighted to introduce myself as a candidate for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Representative for the Leeds Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgical Society (LPRASS).
I believe I would be a strong representative because I am passionate about ensuring everyone feels valued, respected and included, regardless of their background, identity or experiences. In a field as diverse and people-centred as plastic and reconstructive surgery, it is especially important that we promote equality, representation and understanding within our society.
I am approachable, a good listener and committed to supporting others. I understand that different people face different challenges, and I want to help ensure that all members of LPRASS feel welcomed, supported and able to participate fully in our events and opportunities.
As EDI Representative, I would work to encourage open conversations, celebrate diversity within medicine and help raise awareness of issues surrounding equality and inclusion in surgery. I would also aim to create initiatives and events that make LPRASS an inclusive and supportive community for everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture, sexuality, disability or educational background.
Most importantly, I genuinely care about creating a positive environment where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. I would be proud to represent your voices and work alongside you to make LPRASS a society that reflects the values of inclusivity, respect and opportunity for all.
