Hi everyone, my name is Seva and I am applying for the Presidential position of the Leeds Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgical Society (LPRASS). I believe I am well placed to lead the society effectively and expand the opportunities available to members.

I will be entering Year 4 in the upcoming academic year and am currently intercalating at the University of Oxford in an MSc(Res) in Surgical Sciences. My current research has involved reconstructive plastic surgery, particularly post-oncological reconstruction, which has solidified my interest in the specialty and given me exposure to its academic and clinical aspects.

I am also the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Lead for the national Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Student's Association (PRASSA), which gives me an existing network across the region and immediate opportunities for collaboration. This would allow LPRASS to run joint events with other plastic societies, improve access to regional teaching opportunities, and strengthen the society’s presence beyond the university.

As an EXSEL Research Scholar at Leeds, I have worked closely with academic surgeons, including within plastics-adjacent fields, and have established relationships that would be useful in organising teaching sessions, speaker events, careers talks, and practical workshops.

If elected, my focus would be on making the society active, well organised, and useful for members interested in plastic surgery at any stage of training. This would include:

- Regular teaching events and practical skills sessions (e.g. suturing, reconstructive principles, flap teaching).
- Consultant, registrar, and trainee speaker events covering careers, subspecialties, and academic pathways.
- Collaborative regional events through existing PRASSA links.
- Greater access to research, audit, and mentorship opportunities.
- Broader exposure to the full scope of plastic surgery, including reconstruction, hand surgery, burns, trauma, oncology, and aesthetics.

Hi, my name is Katherine Poon and I would love to be your new President of LPRASS!

I am an incoming final-year medical student, with experience in plastic surgery leadership and research.

As I have published in surgical journals and delivered multiple podium and posters at international and national conferences, I am keen to share my experience with fellow students!

As President of LPRASS, I aim to work closely with PRASSA, the national plastic surgery student society, to facilitate local and national plastic surgery events, including conferences, surgical workshops, and webinars for portfolio building, since I am its Leeds University Representative. I also strive to enhance students’ exposure to research and the specialty by creating a mentorship scheme with Plastic Surgery Consultants and Registrars to support their involvement in plastic surgery research projects, theatre time, and connections for elective planning.
