Hi everyone, my name is Mallika and I am running to be the Research & Communications officer for the upcoming term! A bit about me - I am a law student in my final year, aspiring to be an international human rights lawyer. This is my second undergraduate degree, with the first being in Accounting and Finance.

So, why should you vote for me?

I have a strong stance on reproductive rights and believe the ban on our bodies is a pervasive violation of our fundamental human rights. In communicating on it, I will ensure the society’s research reflects this broader, more inclusive approach.

With extensive research experience, including presenting published work at international conferences in London & Paris, I know how to communicate complex topics in an accessible and an engaging way. My background as a content writer means I can distill intricate details into clear messages, ensuring our members stay informed.

My background in Finance ensures that I bring a multidisciplinary approach to the research. For the debate around reproductive rights does not exist in isolation and should not be treated as such. This is coupled with my advocacy for an international approach. As a woman of colour and an international student, I will make sure that my approach is as nuanced as the topic itself, influenced by a variety of factors such as race, class & gender.

Finally, my understanding of the subject as a law student will allow me to navigate the complexities of policies and legislation, providing our society with accurate, informed, and timely updates on legal developments that impact women’s rights worldwide.

Aside from all of the above points, I am open to constructive criticism and am willing to learn from the error of my ways!

I think you should elect me, Charlie, to the role of Research and Communications officer.

Why? : I have a years experience in researching for communications in the civil service where I worked as an analyst, further I have specific back ground in researching the arguments around reproductive rights having studied the philosophy behind abortion rights for second year and philosophys of consent as part of my dissertation.

What do I intend to do: If I am elected to the post I intend to develop connections with experts in the field of reproductive rights both at the university, in the philosophy, politics and medical schools , and in Parliament, so that the Society has access to the most up to date information in reproductive rights. I also intend to support the rest of the committee in expanding our access to information on Britains fight for reproductive rights as British media tends to under report on this issue.
