Hi I’m Joe, I’m a second year geologist and I’ve been a part of Leeds SEG since the start of my degree.
The SEG has been an important part of my university journey so far.
If I’m your Vice President next year, I will make sure that the society is as active as ever with monthly activities, plenty of industry talks and of course, fieldtrips.
Fieldwork, in my opinion, is the best part of Geology so I will make sure to work hard with the rest of the committee organising as many field trips as we can so that we can get out and see the amazing things the Earth can give us.
I also want to ensure that we organise not just academic events but social events too, we are quite a social bunch and what’s a university society without socials.
Despite my ‘chaotic’ nature, I have lots of experience leading and organising all sorts of events and conferences as well as working with diverse groups of people. Outside of University, I volunteer with a national youth charity where I am the Area Lead of Youth Participation.
