My name is Bravin Vijayaakanthan, an Eelam Tamil, first-year computer science and mathematics student. I believe that I possess the skills, experience, and passion needed to lead our society to even greater heights, thus making me an excellent candidate for presidency. The following points outline my vision and goals for the society:

1. Community Building:
My primary goal is to build a strong and inclusive community within the Leeds Tamil Society. I plan to achieve this by organising regular events, both social and cultural, to bring our members together. I will also work to foster relationships with other student societies and organisations on campus to create more opportunities for collaboration and cross-cultural exchange.

2. Cultural Preservation:
As a Tamil society, it is important that we actively work to preserve and promote our culture and heritage. I plan to do this by organising events and workshops that showcase Tamil arts, music, dance, and literature. Furthermore, I will ensure that we continue to organise cultural events such as Pongal, Tamil New Year, and Diwali, where we can showcase the rich and diverse Tamil culture to a wider audience.

3. Social Justice:
I believe that as a society, we have a responsibility to work towards social justice and equality for all. I plan to organise events and discussions that address important social issues, such as gender equality, racism, and discrimination. A major example being to raise awareness about the struggles faced by Tamils both in Sri Lanka and around the world, and to advocate for their rights and well-being.

In conclusion, I am committed to serving as President of the Leeds Tamil Society with passion, dedication, and integrity. I believe that my experience and vision make me the best candidate for this position, and I am excited to work with the committee and our members to make this upcoming year a successful and memorable one.
