Hey, I am Hannah, I am a first year law student who is running for General Secretary for the BarSoc. Why you should vote for me? I am a determined, enthusiastic individual that likes to get involved with everything I can. I have had experience performing mock trials in court which has made me more determined to fulfil a career in the bar. I would love to have the opportunity to help all members of the society gain as much knowledge and experience as I can by helping to plan career and academic events regularly during my role in the academic year. I ensure to work alongside the President and all members of the society to ensure maximum benefit and enjoyment of your time in the BarSoc! I would love to be your General Secretary next year and would appreciate your votes in allowing me to have this opportunity. Thank you :)

As an aspiring barrister, I believe that I can demonstrate my passion for the bar by contributing to the operations of the Bar Society.
Communicating with and supporting members of the BarSoc will my priority as General Secretary.
I am a team player who can contribute sufficiently in a group setting, but I also have the ability to take initiative and work independently.
I would like to improve the experience of members by working closely and collaboratively with the rest of the BarSoc Committee to achieve the ultimate goals of the Society.
I believe that I am equipped with the skills to become the General Secretary as I am an organised individual and have past experience creating engaging promotional posters and social media posts.
I can articulate myself well and will be willing to contribute to the weekly newsletters and raise awareness about these newsletters.
I will ensure that I will post consistently across social media channels to raise awareness and engagement with events and provide detailed information about these events.

A bit about me...
Hi I'm Cruz I come from the Philippines
but live in London and I'm a first year
Law undergrad with the big dream of
being a barrister! But other than uni I
work at the Alchemist and can whip up a
pretty impressive cocktail and like to
think i can make the perfect coffee. In
my spare time I love a Tv series (I'm
currently watching Hannibal and grey's
Anatomy) and when life gets a bit too
much Kickboxing And a good book are
my outlets.

My Experience
have always loved advocacy and have in the past represented my school in the
borough Dehate and the public speaking competition speak up speak out
I volunteer at Crown and Magistrates Courts to support victims
1 am currently taking part in the rule of law challenge on human rights with some
of London's best international law firms
Finally I was the manager at my old job so I know how to manage my time and
collaborate with others really well
What I will do...
Attending the Bar Soc events have really helped me as a first year make connections
and gain essential information so as your General Sec I will strive to
Keep you updated with the latest opportunités and information
Help plan social events not only with peers but with barristers and chambers
Be someone you can seek advice from inside and out of Bar Soc
Represent any of your ideas and suggestions to the committee
Organise networking events with the rest of the committee and trips to
chambers and inns of house

Hi, I’m Annabel, an aspiring Barrister with a strong determination to be your General Secretary for BarSoc. I believe in building the Bar Society to be grounded within community and mutual empowerment. As a tutor and mentor for English, a team player in a multitude of roles, and a proactive individual with a genuine drive to work towards a career in the Bar, I believe I am well suited to this role.

I am also no stranger to advocacy, having completed a Young Lawyer Programme with InvestIn, in which I was coached by Barristers for a criminal law moot, and conducted the opening speech and cross examination. I also responded to judge-style questions in a fictitious advocacy case regarding protected characteristics.

With a variety of both professional and non-academic experience that has built upon the skills required as your General Secretary, I will work smoothly with the committee to see through and go beyond the various roles expected of me. The four pillars of my campaign rest upon Increasing Access, Expanding Opportunities, Building and Bettering Connections, and Driving Development. With me as your GenSec, I pledge the following:

- More inclusive events that foster recognition in the Bar of neurodiversity, under-recognised communities, and mental wellbeing.
- Higher distribution of information regarding opportunities available both within the UK and cross-border. Did you know that qualifying law graduates in the UK can also be called to the Bar in Gibraltar, as they work under the same jurisdiction?
- Focus on employability. In order to gain a mini-pupillage and increase the quality of your applications, you must step into the eyes of a recruiter. Distribution of what recruiters are looking for, and collaborating with career advisors to bring employability workshops toInckl BarSoc.
- Building Connections. BarSoc has done an amazing job this year of putting forward networking with Barristers events, and this will be something I will further advocate for next year.
- The BarSoc is a supportive community, and what better way to harness a network of aspiring barristers than to implement more Facebook groups that focus on exactly this. I will also work on drafting ideas towards a mentorship programme for BarSoc members, in which those with mooting experience can share their insight to Freshers who need it.
