My name's Matt and I'm a second year media student. l've really enjoyed presenting on Friday hometime this year and have met great people through LSR. 1 want to make hometime the best it can be for everyone and help continue to make the society a friendly and welcoming environment!

Give presenters total creative freedom in their shows, supporting new, imaginative ideas for show content including outside broadcasts and interviews
Encourage collaborations between the home time teams and build a strong sense of community within hometime!
Keep hometime's social feed frequent and engaging with clips from shows and vox-pops
Assure everyone feels that they are getting the most out of doing the show and of course, having fun!

Hii, I’m Carys and I’m currently a second year Communication and Media student. I’m running for Head of Hometime for 2024/2025 and I would love the opportunity to be a part of the amazing LSR Committee!! Being a part of Hometime for every semester I’ve been at uni so far has really helped me understand how the shows work and what it’s like working as a team. I also present my own show Barricade Babe every other Saturday! Hi! I’m Amba and I’m a first year English Lit and Creative Writing student.

Hometime introduced me to radio which I’ve discovered is the love of my life, and some amazing friends. It also led me to start my own show “The Girls Got Guts” which has been the best thing I’ve ever done in my life (dramatic lol).

Hometime has such a special place in my heart because it connects you with likeminded people for 2 hours during the week and really allows you to hone in on your skills whilst making incredible friendships.

As Head of Hometime, I’d hope to bring the passion I have for radio to the team, experimenting with themes of the week if people are too busy to produce something maybe, collaborations with other societies or shows, going out and about interviewing students and just basically giving Hometime our all!

Hometime is the show that helps people switch off after a long day and is a vital part of LSR. I’d be so honoured to be Head of Hometime next year, getting people home to the sound of a passionate and energetic LSR team.

Hiiii everyone, I’m Liv! I am currently heading towards the end of my placement year at Disney and have loved it but itching to get back to the LSR fun !! I have been on hometime and breakfast shows since I started uni. These core shows are such integral bookends to the day for students and, for me, they have been the absolute highlight of every week. LSR has been the biggest part of my Leeds experience and I would love nothing more than to give back by representing you as your Head of Hometime! I have soooo many ideas but to name a few:

Broaden and vary our content
While we already have an extremely solid base for hometime shows, it would be amazing to expand the possibilities even further. I feel opening up roles for those who want to feature as producers or other non-presenting roles would help bring variety into the shows.
As well as this, expanding the ways we promote our application system so that we can reach and encourage students to apply, who may not typically do so, would be a big aim of mine – in order to best represent the sound of students in Leeds.
Switching up the content to include more broadcasting away from just the studio would also be something I would be keen to support and facilitate.

Mid-semester presenter swap
Although the bonds you create with your team are unmatched, sometimes it’s fresh and influencial to have the chance to present with some new faces (or should I say voices). As Head of Hometime, each semester I would introduce an optional one-off, mid-semester presenter swap, allowing presenters to feature on an alternative day of the week and present with a brand new team.

Networking, industry talks, and mid-semester refreshers
Having attended 2 SRAcons and been truly inspired by talks and networking sessions with members of the broadcasting industry, I would love to bring more of these opportunities into term time. My plan is for this to include local presenters that have worked on hometime or similar shows, as well as sessions with a range of professionals working in other roles within radio. Think talks on how to make a demo, how to produce a show, how to plan your show etc, to keep inspiration high throughout the term.
Additionally, I know the desk can be a little intimidating. So, I would like to integrate refresher sessions part way through the semesters so that those who have not had chance to use the desk or are lacking some confidence can come along for informal training (to make learning your way around things slightly less daunting than trying it out live on air!).

Socials, socials, socials !
Crucially, to help form those all-important hometime connections, I would take the social aspect of the role VERY seriously. Incorporating a range of drinking and non-drinking socials to ensure that everyone felt included would be top of my agenda. It would also be important to me to organise socials involving other society members such as some Breakfast x Hometime socials, alongside some Hometime-exclusive socials too. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not one to shy away from a fancy dress theme so expect plenty of fun and foolery from me along the way.

Finally, to bring the marketing and promotional skills I have developed over this past year, I would also be dedicated to looking at how we can spotlight the work of each hometime team on our socials and beyond, to make this next year of hometime shows bigger and better than ever!
