Hi, I’m Shahmir, and I’m running for Events Manager of the Chemical Engineering Society

I’m applying for this role because I want to help make our biggest events run smoothly and actually feel memorable. Whether it’s Frank Morton, the annual ball, or regular socials throughout the year, I’ll put in the time and effort to make sure everything’s well organised and enjoyable from start to finish.

Frank Morton is a huge part of the ChemEng calendar, bringing together students from across the country. I know how important it is to represent our society well, and I’ll make sure all the planning and logistics are sorted so we can focus on enjoying the day and competing as a team. For the ball, I’ll lead on finding the right venue, handling bookings, and coordinating everything to make it a proper highlight of the year.

I’ll also work closely with the Social Sec to help plan and organise our regular socials. That means finding venues that suit our vibe, keeping things accessible, and making sure there’s a good mix of events throughout the year. I’m open to suggestions and will always take feedback on board to make sure what we’re doing reflects what the society actually wants.

I’m organised, reliable, and comfortable managing the behind the scenes side of things. If I’m elected, I’ll make sure every event, big or small, is something worth turning up to.
