My name is Sophie, and I’m applying for the position of Core Group Rep in KDS committee. As Core Group Rep, I will encourage the connection between core group and the members of the society through tutorials and other socials. I’ve been part of KDS for two years now, one as a member joining weekly tutorials and one as a core group member. As such, I’ve developed an idea of both perspectives within the society, which will help me coordinate and integrate between core group and other members of KDS. This year I have been to the majority of tutorials, participating in many demos and even teaching some of the classes. I aim to continue this as Core Group Rep and become a friendly face for the society.

I also want to provide an opportunity for core group members to play a more active role in the society by organising covers for the YouTube channel or short dances for Instagram for them to participate in. Having the core group members become more visible on the KDS accounts will also help the members of KDS to feel more comfortable and part of the society as they have a chance to become more familiar with them outside of classes.

As for my experience, I have organised and planned multiple covers over the past year as well as partaking in LUU Intercomp and Steal the Stage competitions as part of KDS. I am mainly a self-taught dancer, and I gained my passion for dance by copying K-pop choreographies shortly after I first became a K-pop stan. Since then, I spent my spare time dancing and improving, whether that be in my bedroom or now in studios and practices. I plan to continue this next year and hopefully become even more involved in KDS as your Core Group Rep!
