Hello, my name’s Maria and I’m a third year medical student. I would like to apply to be a clinical rep for EndoSoc because this would be a great opportunity to promote endocrinology and encourage students to gain more exposure of this specialty.
Endocrinology interests me due to it being a vast yet intricate specialty, which ties in to and plays a role in many branches of medicine. Through this society, I would love to work alongside the committee to organise engaging events relevant to clinical years, where students will hopefully be able to consolidate their current endocrinology knowledge and draw links to how it influences clinical practice across different disciplines.
I enjoy working within a team dynamic, and this society would offer the opportunity for me to collaborate with other committee members who are also passionate about endocrinology. I am currently part of the medics and dentists’ tennis committee, where I have gained some valuable organisational and teamworking skills. These will help me liaise more efficiently with other students, as well as discuss and feedback any questions or suggestions for improvement they have.
Later on this term, I will be doing a PALS1 teaching session on Endocrinology alongside a friend, and so joining EndoSoc would be a great way to promote events like these. If selected, I look forward to working alongside the current team and being a port of call for students that are curious about this specialty and would like to learn more!

Endocrinology is one of the specialities that we dont get much exposure to in Medical school however it is fundamental and critical in medicine. Hi, I’m LuLu, a 5th year student who is passionate about endocrinology and diabetes! I would love to be a part of the society this year and help inspire more students to take an interest in this fantastic specialty.

Having done my 6 week elective in E&D in Leeds, I observed the diverse range of conditions that are managed by the specialty and am keen to share this insight with other students.

At Leeds medical school, our exposure to clinical endocrinology is very limited, meaning students often have a poor understanding of the specialty. Their perceptions may originate from the over-complicated lectures we had on feedback loops, stimulation and suppression tests back in 2nd year.

I hope to change this through hosting stimulating events ranging from taster talks to teaching and revision sessions on core topics, making the content interesting and memorable.

Having previously been secretary for the British Chinese Society, I have honed my organisation and communication skills and would be excited to work with the committee to promote our events to as many students as we can.

I can also confirm that the endocrinology team at LTHT are some of the kindest doctors I’ve met and are enthusiastic about getting students involved in the specialty. I would be more than happy to contact them for events so that we can give students a better insight into the realities of the career.
