Luize Silina
Dear LUUTIS community,
I'm Luize, a penultimate student at the University of Leeds and an exchange student at Bocconi University in Milan, and I am running for the position of LUUTIS president for the 2023/24 academic year.
With a wealth of experience and a strong academic background, I believe I am well-equipped to lead society in the upcoming academic year. My nomination is driven by a desire to foster growth, knowledge-sharing, and networking opportunities within LUUTIS. I am an international student, so I strive in a diverse and global environment which is why I aim to bring a unique perspective and promote inclusivity within LUUTIS as it is highly valued in any global company. Previous experience working as a Treasurer for LUU official fundraising society also helps me to understand the importance of responsibly allocating funds for society’s needs and evaluating the return on any investment.
Starting and manoeuvring a successful career in the financial industry is a competitive and sometimes nerve-wracking experience, therefore it is important to create a healthy work environment. Therefore, my goal is to ensure that the LUUTIS community functions as a support system for every society member. Furthermore, I promise to:
• Make every member’s voice heard to foster the generation of new ideas
• Leverage previous experience
• Utilize industry connections to maintain good relationships with current sponsors and establish new partnership(s)
• Enhance brand awareness and expand LUUTIS's network in the UK and abroad
• Conduct personal branding sessions to help members develop effective self-presentation skills
• Organize guest speaking lectures featuring professionals from various fields such as Investment Banking, Asset Management, Trading, and Treasury
• Coordinate a project focused on alternative investments in collaboration with the CAIA Association, providing valuable insights into this specialized area of finance
I would appreciate it if you considered me for the next year’s president position. I am ready to provide my industry expertise, experience, connections, and ideas to ensure that LUUTIS keeps evolving and growing. Your voice matters, so I ask you to vote for the candidate who is the best fit for this role. It is our collective responsibility to make the right decision in LUUTS’s best interests.
Kind regards,
Luize Silina

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for the position of President of LUUTIS. As a first-year student pursuing a BSc in Banking and Finance, I am enthusiastic about the world of finance and investing, and I am excited to bring my skills and experience to the society.
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. As an Associate at ODT Capital, I managed and assisted a team of four talented analysts from LSE and University College London. This experience helped me develop strong leadership skills and fostered productive relationships with team members and external partners. Additionally, I co-founded the Junior Investment Banker, a student-led research organization dedicated to authoring comprehensive deal reports. Through this initiative, I gained a deep understanding of the financial markets and honed my communication and organizational skills.
If elected as President of LUUTIS, I am committed to leveraging my skills and experience to drive the society towards greater success. My vision for LUUTIS centers on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. I believe that by working together and embracing new ideas, we can create a dynamic and engaging community that empowers our members to achieve their full potential.
One of my key goals as President would be to host expert speakers who can provide our members with valuable insights and knowledge related to finance and investing. I plan on building a strong network, and using this network to bring in speakers who can offer unique perspectives and highlight exciting developments in the financial world. These talks would be interactive and engaging, allowing our members to learn from the best in the field and broaden their horizons.
I also believe that collaboration is key to success, and I would work to develop partnerships and joint initiatives with other societies to expand our reach and create exciting new opportunities for our members. By collaborating with other student groups, we can tap into new networks and resources and create a more dynamic and diverse community.
Another priority for me would be to expand our educational resources and opportunities. I am passionate about empowering our members with the right knowledge and skills, and I would work to enhance our society's resources, including developing workshops, seminars, and mentorship opportunities to deepen our members' understanding of trading and investments. I would also explore partnerships with financial institutions to provide real-world learning experiences and internships to our members.
To provide members with hands-on experience in trading and investment decision-making, I would organize trading competitions and simulations. These events would enable members to put their knowledge and skills to the test, gain practical experience, and receive feedback from experts in the field. I would also work to explore opportunities to convert our current virtual fund into a real one, providing our members with a more interactive and hands-on experience, while enhancing our understanding of financial markets and investment strategies.
Finally, I would focus on enhancing the society's online presence. In today's digital age, having a strong online presence is essential, and I would revamp the society's website and social media platforms, making them more engaging and informative. I would also leverage these platforms to showcase the society's events and activities, attract new members, and connect with industry professionals.
As President of LUUTIS, I would also be committed to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment within the society. I believe that diversity and teamwork are critical to success, and I would actively encourage members from all backgrounds and levels of experience to participate and contribute to the society. I would establish regular feedback channels to gather input from members and incorporate their ideas into the society's activities and initiatives.
In conclusion, I am excited about the opportunity to lead LUUTIS towards greater success and growth. With my passion for finance, my experience in leadership, and my vision for the future of the society, I am confident that I can provide an enriching experience for all members. Thank you for considering my candidacy for President of the Leeds University Trading and Investments Society.

I am Lorenz, currently a third-year Economics and Finance BSc student on placement as an investment banking intern in Frankfurt, Germany. I am very excited to introduce myself as a nominee for the position of President of Leeds Trading and Investment Society.
LUUTIS was a great part of my first and second year at Leeds and I have gotten to know the society very well, and especially benefited from the various competitions and the inspiring leadership. On my placement, I worked in Corporate Banking Relationship Management and now as an intern in the Mergers & Acquisitions division, specialising in the Healthcare industry.
As president, I would not only like to continue hosting the various competitions and talks, but also organise new events with industry experts and put a particular focus on careers and skills to help everyone get their foot in the door. Through my placement, I have been exposed to an extremely valuable network in the investment banking industry who I would like to leverage and organise targeted events about the industry in general, but also specific areas from being on the trading floor to Mergers & Acquisitions. I find that personal experience for placement applicants and the soon-to-be graduates is invaluable and something I would like to bring to the society.
Moreover, I would like to increase collaborations with other societies, and universities, and allow for members to learn about, be exposed to and to build strong networks for finance careers. I would like to foster the LUUTIS community, through frequent socials and get-togethers, creating a society where all members can benefit from each other.
I will be an approachable, committed and supportive LUUTIS president, wishing to provide deeper insight and understanding of finance through LUUTIS.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me: bn20le@leeds.ac.uk
