My name is Ian and I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the position of Treasurer. As a passionate and dedicated individual with a strong interest in the investment industry, I firmly believe in LUUTIS's mission to create a community of informed and engaged investors. I am excited about the prospect of contributing to the society's success and using my expertise to help us reach our goals.

As a 1st year Accounting and Finance student, I have developed a strong foundation in financial management and budgeting. I have excelled in my academic studies, achieving a score of 90%+ in the financial accounting paper. This outstanding academic performance reflects my dedication to mastering the fundamental principles of financial management, which will enable me to effectively manage society's budget and ensure that our financial obligations are met.

Moreover, as Project Development & Initiative Chapter Director (UK) for the International Council of Malaysian Scholars (ICMS), I led the successful development and implementation of various projects aimed at promoting the interests of Malaysian students internationally. This experience has equipped me with strong project management skills, including setting goals, defining roles and responsibilities, and monitoring progress. I believe that these skills will be invaluable in coordinating the production of society merchandise and ensuring that our financial resources are allocated efficiently.

As the Fundraising Director for an IBDP-CAS Project, I demonstrated my ability to raise funds and manage logistics during challenging times. Despite the Covid-19 lockdown, I successfully raised RM6000 (£1100) while maintaining an impressive 80% profit margin. This experience has equipped me with the necessary skills to manage and keep track of society finances, even in the face of adversity.

I am committed to ensuring that LUUTIS remains a socially responsible organization that is dedicated to giving back to society. I firmly believe that investing can and should be used as a force for good, and I am eager to explore ways in which LUUTIS can make a positive impact in our local and global communities. As Treasurer, I will work tirelessly to ensure that our financial decisions align with our values and that we are contributing to causes that matter to us as a society.

I'm a first-year BSc Accounting & Finance student and the 2023/24 Vice President of Leeds Finsights. With aspirations for a career in buy-side finance, I appreciate the value that LUUTIS's events and competitions bring to people in my position, driving me to be more involved with LUUTIS as Treasurer.

Being an accounting student with an interest in financial management, I have a good understanding of managing budgets and keeping track of finances. Therefore, I'm confident that I can take on the responsibility of LUUTIS's finances as Treasurer.

As Treasurer, I will endeavor to coordinate society trips to financial institutions around the country and promote society trips abroad. I will also strive to increase collaboration with other finance-related societies from other universities, as well as those in Leeds. I'll also coordinate the production of society merchandise and make it available to members.
