Hey everyone! This is Prachi Sharma, a first-year undergrad doing Econ & Finance with the Leeds University Business School and as a part of the Badminton Society, I hereby announce my candidacy for the Socials secretary position next year! Being with the society for over a semester and having represented the university at a few matches, I, with no doubt can say that I share the same passion for the sport as my fellow society members and it would be an exciting opportunity to continue acting with the society. As an undergraduate student ambassador with LUBS, I have experience in hosting inclusive and grand events (an example of open days would be relevant) while as an ex-intern at IIMUN, my role was to organise events and supervise them. Apart from my knowledge and expertise in the area, I aim to collect personalised feedback on the socials while considering everyone’s suggestions and trying to implement them in the next one. Being part of the committee will further allow me to help new members ease into the society while making the overall experience the best for everyone. I would be more than happy to assist the committee with any challenges and tasks to make the experience enjoyable and worthwhile for everyone. My name is Riya and I’m a first year business management student. I chose badminton as it was a friendly and inclusive society regardless of ability where I attended recreational sessions which has helped discover a love for a new sport and let me get let loose in between the stresses of exams too.
I would like to nominate myself for social sec as I’m outgoing, organised and a party animal at heart and of course a regular attendee at socials.
I will make sure socials go off with a bang and ensure everyone has a good time and enjoys them.
I particularly enjoy organising pres and nights out with my friends and strongly believe that I can plan the best social experiences for the badminton soc where you’ll make memories for life. As a fresher it was a great opportunity to make friends and connect with other people with similar interests.
I aim to organise socials that are budget friendly and affordable for everyone keeping them as low as possible. I have ideas for a badminton themed otley run, pub golf to secret socials to let us all boogie in a new city as well.
Another importance for me is to make socials inclusive to everyone and organise regular sober socials such as bowling or themed movie nights

Hi! My name its Olivia and I am applying to be one of the social secretaries for the badminton society. I’m 20 and currently a first year International Development student.

I would like to be one of the social secretaries because I love engaging with people and organising social events. I’m super excited by the idea of building a community in the badminton society and creating socials where there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I think we can all agree that being a university student is extremely stressful so as social secretary, I would want to create events where members can take a break from the pressures and demands they face at university, relax and just have some fun - whether that’s at an escape room or a Mischief social!

I think I am a good choice for the social secretary position because I am friendly, pro-active and eager to take the advice and opinions of others on board to make the badminton society socials as exciting and inclusive as possible. I also really enjoy planning and organising events which is a key aspect of the social secretary position. As I am really organised and love planning in advance, I want to be proactive and ensure everyone has notice of upcoming events and get togethers over the year.

As social secretary, my main priority would be to create inclusive socials. I would want to make sure that every badminton society member feels like there is a social they want to go to, and feels part of the badminton community. I would also seek out feedback and source ideas from members and the committee to make sure that we create socials that had something for everyone to enjoy.
