Hey everyone,

I’m nominating myself for weightlifting captain because this society has been a massive part of my life for the past couple years and id like to be a part of it.

Barbell introduced me to weightlifting as a sport when I first started uni and as of the last year or so I’ve been in love with it. The weekly sessions as well as the weightlifting community within the society have kept me glued to the sport and I have no intention of leaving it anytime soon (as long as I don’t snap a hamstring).

As weightlifting captain my main priority will be to get more weightlifters in the society. Speaking from experience the majority of people have no clue about olympic lifts. Introducing more people to the sport as well as encouraging new members in sessions will (hopefully) build a larger and stronger weightlifting community in barbell.

As captain I’ll also be helping our future competitors (and hopefully competing with them) when it comes to: finding comps, applying to comps, organising travel and accommodation (if needed), and anything else I can assist with

I will also push for the following (no promises tho):
Monthly gang wars with powerlifters (weapons allowed)
Chinese olympic grade “supplements” for our competitors
A visit from Li Dayin and Karlos Nasar

I think I’d make a decent captain and hopefully you guys do too :)
