Hi, I’m Jacqueline, a second-year law student and an active member of Barbell Club. I’m running for Secretary because I want to ensure the club runs smoothly and every member has a positive, well-organized experience.

As a law student, I bring strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills. I’ll ensure clear, efficient communication through concise newsletters and regular updates in the WhatsApp group, so everyone stays informed. I’ll also manage the administrative tasks, like compliance documentation and record-keeping, to keep the club’s operations running seamlessly.

Beyond the admin, I’m committed to fostering a sense of community. Whether through organizing events or encouraging participation in competitions, I aim to create a space where everyone feels included and supported.

If elected, I’ll focus on clear communication, efficient organization, and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere within the club. I’m excited for the opportunity to contribute to Leeds Barbell's growth and ensure every member feels supported, both in and outside the gym. Together, we can continue building on the club’s success and make it a place where everyone thrives.

Hello Barbell Club voters, I am asking for YOUR vote!

I hear you asking, why vote for me for secretary? Please allow me to give you a reason:

Powerlifting is a sport I've been involved in for over six years, and I've been in Barbell Club for the past five years. Yes, that makes me old. In that time, I have been competing at a national level and have achieved multiple podium finishes. As well as this, I am trained as a Level 2 British Powerlifting Coach and a British Powerlifting Divisional Referee. I have coached others to national championships, and been involved in the organisation and running of many competitions. Why does this matter? It matters because it means I am experienced in every aspect of powerlifting, and I can take this experience into Barbell Club to ensure the Club is there to support YOU as best as it possibly can. I will make sure the Club does everything it can to support every member achieve their goals, whether that's learning how to powerlift, or compete at the highest level possible.

Bored yet? I hope not. You should also vote for me as secretary because I am an exceptionally organised person. I've been balancing university workload with powerlifting training and part time work for years, so I know how to manage my time to ensure things get done on time! What does this mean for you? It means memberships, expense claims, and queries will all be processed and answered quickly, meaning the club will run smoothly and efficiently.

Finally, I want to continue making Barbell Club the best it can possibly be. I will enure the society fosters a supportive and inclusive environment, allowing everyone to feel accomodated and comfortable within our society. This means you will be able to make friends, have fun, and get stronger in a society that is there for YOU.

I think that about sums it up. Overall, I do genuinely really care about Barbell Club, I've been in it since my first day at university back in 2020, and I want to see it thrive and improve and work for everyone.
