I am Ali, a first year student wanting to become the next Prayer Space Brother.
Over the year I’ve engaged with ISOC in many different ways, such as Social Events and Charity Week, which has allowed me to engage with the community and create many friendships.
What’s most important, is what the Prayer Space’s mean to the Muslim community. A central hub to pray, engage and associate with one-another. That’s why I’m asking you to vote for me, so I am able to ensure that the Green Room, Cemetery Lodge and other prayer locations are available to you throughout the year and in the best conditions.
With the Annual elections just days away I ask that if you have the ability to place a vote, then please do so and In’sha’allah if I’m elected I’m able to rightfully carry out the duties and attend to your personal needs in the best way possible.

My name is Wajahat Khan. I am currently a second-year medical student.
I am deeply passionate about serving our community and ensuring that our prayer spaces are maintained to the highest standards. Prayer spaces hold immense significance in our community as they provide a sacred sanctuary for Muslims to connect with their faith, seek solace, and find peace amidst the demands of university life. These spaces serve as a focal point for our spiritual growth and development, fostering a sense of unity and belonging to a much greater Muslim community.
I want to nominate myself for this position because I believe that I have the dedication, organisational skills, and attention to detail necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of this role effectively. I had the opportunity to serve as the events manager on the Afghan Society, where I was responsible for organising and coordinating various events and activities for our members. This role required effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to multitask, all of which are essential qualities for successfully managing our prayer spaces and ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse community. Additionally, as part of being a prefect in my school I was involved in providing prayer spaces for the students and I want to continue with role next year to contribute to the Muslim community here at Leeds.

Salam,

My name is Sam, but you can also call me Amirreza. I study Medicine and I am currently in my gateway year. I intend to apply for the prayer spaces brother position Inshallah.

I have decided to nominate myself for this position as I would like to gain the sawab (blessings) for my khidma (serving) in checking and maintaining the prayer spaces. I have created a detailed list in my own accord of prayer spaces I have discovered around University premises, some of which you may not even be familiar with:

Engineering building second floor prayer room (Brothers and sisters separate)
Green room (brothers and sisters split)
Cemetery lodge temporary cabins (brothers and sisters split)
School of law quiet room (mixed)
Edward Boyle (mixed)
EC stoner (mixed, one next to entrance beside couches and one in computer cluster on the right)
Laidlaw (mixed)
Worsley building (brothers and sisters split)
Social sciences building prayer room 11.13 (mixed)

I do not actually think such a comprehensive list has ever been made before, I have visited each prayer room several times and am familiar with their closing times. I have always felt a sense of takliif (responsibility) with regards to these rooms, such as in the temporary cabins rooms where I noticed the prayer mats going missing and notified the current prayer spaces brother. I believe we should make it easy on all mumineen (believers) by maintaining and establishing new prayer spaces across the University campus.

I ask that if you are dissatisfied or have any queries or concerns about the current state of the prayer rooms that you notify me and I will try my best to address them if I am elected.
