Hi everyone! My name is Emily and I am going into my final year studying Fashion Marketing. I am a young entrepreneur myself and I have ran my business Emily Elizabeth’s for 4 years. I have been part of the Entrepreneurs Society throughout my 2nd year and it has been very inspiring and useful, especially when applying for the Spark Enterprise Scholarship which I was very lucky to have won in November 2023. I have experienced 1st hand what is like to run a successful business so I can give advice to other students and start ups about lots of different things! I would love the opportunity to become president, and if I did, I would want to make the Entrepreneurs Society a fun, creative and inspiring environment for budding student entrepreneurs and students with business ideas. I want to encourage others to take the leap and start their businesses. I started my business with a sewing machine, about £10 worth of fabric and my phone so trust me, it is easy and doable!

After receiving the Spark Enterprise Scholarship this year, I have met many members of the Spark team including all the 2023/24 winners and previous business successes. I can connect with these people easily and create fun and insightful networking events for students which are a great opportunity for us to learn how to excel in our business endeavours and a great opportunity to speak to successful entrepreneurs about their experiences, failures and successes!

There are so many different enterprise opportunities available for students at Leeds but I don’t think they are shared enough with the student community so I will make it my priority to inform as many students about Spark and the Leeds enterprise community. I also want to send the message to as many students as possible that anyone is capable of starting up and running a business and how rewarding being an entrepreneur is.

Dear Members of the Leeds Entrepreneurs Society,

I am Devesh Saboo, currently pursuing a Masters with a focus on International Business and harboring a deep passion for entrepreneurship. My aim as President is to foster innovation and collaboration within the Entrepreneur Society. Winning the Leeds University Business School Business Challenge competition, hosted by LUBS & Learning Dynamics Ltd., significantly honed my skills in innovation and competitive strategy.

I was also nominated for the Leeds Partnership Award and was selected as the Winner by the panelists under "Contribution to Student Experience" (So you can definitely rely on me for getting your queries sorted!) Additionally, having initiated my own business journey, I understand the pivotal starting points and the common pitfalls encountered by budding entrepreneurs. I believe leading the Leeds Entrepreneurs Society is a crucial step in fulfilling my professional aspirations and aiding aspiring entrepreneurs across the university through informative guest lectures, workshops, and engaging events.
My previous work experiences have endowed me with essential organizational and interpersonal skills, enabling me to proficiently manage logistics and collaborate effectively with diverse teams. I excel in fast-paced environments, thriving on meticulous attention to detail, and adeptly handle deadlines, timelines, and task delegation.

I am a current MSc student studying Global Strategy and Innovation Management, with a strong passion for entrepreneurship. I am excited to apply for the position of President of the Leeds Entrepreneurs Society. My academic background and active participation in various entrepreneurial events have provided me with a solid understanding of business strategies and effective leadership. In particular, my experience in a business challenge competition organized by Helix has enhanced my skills in innovation and competitive strategy.
