Hello! My name’s Thoi and I’m nominating myself for social secretary. I have been a committee member since January 2024 as the assistant general secretary and it has been so fun getting to know the behind-the-scenes of artsoc. I have mostly been involved in organising the life drawing sessions and I have loved learning so many things and getting to know other members.

As the social secretary, I want to make our socials more engaging and accessible to everyone. I recently got diagnosed with ADHD and I understand how social settings can be overwhelming for neurodivergent people so I want to organise socials where neurodivergent people have an easier time socialising with other people. Providing sensory toys in our socials is also one of the things that I want to include as I understand a lot of people attend our events alone and it can be anxious at times (I went to my first social an Otley run alone!).

I also believe representation in art is very important, especially given my Indian heritage so I love to organise socials catered to people of colour in arts. I am looking forward to collaborating with other cultural societies and organising socials that give people of colour in arts a chance to meet each other.

Another thing that I want to do as a social secretary is organising trips to art museums and places. We could go to the local art galleries or the British Museum and Tate Modern over the weekend. It will be easier and fun to bond with other people in the society on trips so I would love to organise them.

My time in art society has been really fun and productive and I hope I can help more members of the society have the same experience too.

My main goal is to make sure everyone has fun and provide an environment where everyone can express themselves with art!!
I will keep running weekly sessions which are driven by you guys and what you want to do! I will also make sure to hold a good mix of social activities that alternate between drinking and non drinking events as well as collaborating with more societies to ensure you guys have the best time possible!

Hi guys My name is Elay Aflatouni, and I'm currently a second year law student that's ready to take on the role of Social Secretary for 24/25! My primary goal is to design a fun, interesting, and creative, environment for students to feel welcomed and comfortable. This includes planning social events, workshops, trips, etc where students can interact and express themselves artistically.
