Hiya gorgeous Freestylers!
For those of you who don’t know me I’m Maya and for my second and LAST YEAR in Freestyle (stop I’m crying) I would love to give back to the society I love as your Secretary!
Joining this society only in my second year of Uni has shown me how much I missed in first year, I have formed the greatest friendships in such a short amount of time. I love my family of silly fresh and big sisters (we are the same age) more than words can say. Being your secretary and being a welcoming face for the new generation of freshers would be a privilege.
I know how daunting it can be to start out somewhere new especially when you feel out of your depth. Some of you may not know that even though I have made Hip-Hop my main personality trait, this has been my first year of doing Hip-Hop in my 8 years of dancing!! Going into something new was made so easy by this community and it would be an honour to put my extroversion to good use and be the person to introduce new faces to this loving society (I will drag them if I have to.)
Dance is never seen as an equal to other sporting societies in the union and I want to CHANGE THAT. We work equally as – if not harder- than some Gryphon societies, and with the amount of dance societies we have in this uni (we literally have enough to have a competition) it’s clearly worth the time and money. If I am lucky enough to be appointed in this position, I promise the Union treasurer will HATE me by the end of the year xx
I promise to implement fundraisers as a regular event within our social calendar next year. I hope that small, yet frequent initiatives are going to help fund socials more (so we don’t have to pay as much out of pocket, maintenance loans have other priorities ) and set us up to have a more cushty comp season for the year to come $$$.
Lastly, I would manage the email diligently and make sure relevant info is available to whoever requires it. I also can write a MEAN email- my housemates can back this- so don’t you worry, I’ll get sh*t done xx
With the bombshell talent I have seen so far running for committee I have no doubts that next year will be a good one, I would grant myself lucky if you choose me for this position to carry Freestyle into 2026!

Hi everyone :) I'm Izzy and I would love the role of secretary next year! I'm going into my second year of studying Philosophy and Politics and have been dancing since I was 5 years old. Since coming to uni, freestyle has been such a big part of my life. I remember going to the freshers fair in my first week and being approached, I'm so glad I was! I would like the opportunity to do for the new freshers what committee this year did for all first years, everyone was so welcoming and helpful as well as patient. I would like to be secretary because I'm very good with admin, and if I'm honest my course is very low maintenance so I would have plenty of time to get all the admin sorted ;). Furthermore, I'm aware that my role would involve getting more freshers involved, this is not a problem for me! I'm very comfortable going up to people, and I know it is vital for us to get more freshers so I would take this part of my role very seriously. And of course, following Moseley's position I would not let her legacy waver!

Please consider voting for more, I would not let freestyle dance down and would love to have the opportunity to have a more prominent role within the best dance team in Leeds 3
