Hi everyone, my name is Aidan and I’m a first year Geography with Environmental Mathematics student from Manchester and I’m running for the Treasurer position on the 2025/26 committee.


My background with gymnastics starts with trampolining, which I started doing when I was six and then later moved onto gymnastics around age 9. But even before then I’d taught myself a lot of skills in my garden, probably giving my Mum a few mini heart attacks in the process.

Since then, gymnastics remains one of my main hobbies and definitely my favourite sport. So in September when I was thinking about joining a society, gymnastics was the only one that I ever really considered. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the gymnastics society so far. A highlight for me is competing for the first time, and coming out with a few medals at North finals.


I would like to be considered for Treasurer because I’m always 100% committed to the things I’m passionate about. I believe I have demonstrated this already throughout the year as I tried my best to attend as many training sessions and competitions as possible (although this was frustratingly interrupted by me breaking my ankle), and it will definitely be the same next year. Similarly, I’m very organised and when given a certain role, I always try my best to do it the best that I can.

I’m quite a reserved person but despite this I’m always trying to find new ways to push myself out of my comfort zone. Even joining the gymnastics society itself was something that I found slightly intimidating to begin with, but I’m very glad that I did. I’ve always enjoyed having leadership roles and working as part of a team, so I believe being the society’s Treasurer would be a great experience for me to have at university.

I’m also very friendly face and easy to talk to whenever, especially considering that if I’m not doing any work or at any lectures then I’m probably on my phone, so I normally respond to messages/emails quickly.


If I am Treasurer next year, I will work closely with the President and VP to ensure that costs for training, competitions, travel etc. is affordable for members while also being sufficient for the society itself.

I will put time and effort into making sure that all money is managed properly. Since coming to university, I’ve been confident with managing my own personal finances and wouldn’t mind applying that on a larger scale to monitor the society’s. In addition, I already spend a lot of time analysing numbers on spreadsheets.
(In other words, I wouldn’t mind having more spreadsheets to analyse next year)

After a couple of years break, I’m glad to have gotten back into this sport. Being a part of the gymnastics society has already been a great experience so far and I’m looking forward to continuing next year no matter what. Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll consider voting me for Treasurer :)

ABOUT ME
I have been part of the society for two years now, with this past year spent having the privilege of being one of your social secretaries. Joining gymnastics society was one of the best decisions I have made since coming to university - I have loved meeting so many amazing people and have made friendships I know will last a lifetime.
I am in my second year of my Meng in Chemical Engineering, growing up I always wanted to go into finance but found ChemEng more intellectually stimulating as it encompasses a lot of global issues making it really interesting to study, while still having maths and physics as the backbone of it – my two favourite subjects. Its also so common on my course to end up in banking/finance so having treasurer on my CV will look great for me 😊 pls and ty

WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR ME
I actually wanted to run for the role of treasurer last year, however, I knew that Avi wanted it and since he already had experience being on committee I thought it was best if he had it and I ran for something else - hence I got the role of social sec which I thoroughly enjoyed. As I have now been on committee for a year, I have an idea of how the society runs and have seen what works well/what I think could be improved. If you elect me as Treasurer I will continue to work alongside other committee members to ensure the smooth-running of the society in all areas, as well as working with the comp captains/training sec/social secs to see where we can subsidise to ensure people are getting the most out of their memberships as I understand how financially demanding it can be to fully commit to a sports society.
I love working with numbers – my lecturers kindly gave us 6 assignments to complete this easter and the first one I tackled was my maths as it doesn’t even feel like work to me, I genuinely love working with numbers and do it for fun on the regular. I also love Excel – I literally use it for everything, not only in my degree a tonne but also in my personal life. 90% of socials this past year have been planned on a beautifully detailed spreadsheet, I also use Excel for pres ratios at our house, and many more (potentially excessive) means.
If I haven’t already convinced you to vote for me through my immense and possibly concerning passion for mathematics and Microsoft Excel then my only reasoning is that you are a raging misogynist and don’t believe women can do STEM or should be in leadership roles – and while this is an incredibly incorrect belief I have attached an image of myself dressed as a man as my pfp to trick you into voting for me anyway.
