Hi, I am a first-year Economics and Finance student. I joined debate society with no prior experience but a desire for an environment where I was able to articulate my opinions (no matter how out of pocket it may be).

My plans and goals for the upcoming year:
• I believe that the previous format of 4-5 motions with a longer info slide motion worked quite well. I aim to include a member discord where weekly polls can help decide the topic of a motion and allow for direct communication with the committee board
• Increase the number of external activities to form friendships and bonding e.g. after a casual session, a debate soc pub quiz at the Eldon
• Increase competitive debate turnout- This is a great way to get personalised feedback and it’s still a choice to speak. there were many times when I would turn up just to assist my team members and stay quiet for the rest of the time.

I know that I have the necessary skills (teamwork, reliability etc.) to ensure that the role of Vice-president is performed well. I am willing and able to commit to maintaining the friendly and welcoming environment present in the society.
