Hello, I'm Katie and I would love to be your treasurer for the Geography Society.
I am applying to be treasurer because I would love to be part of the Geography society team, helping to make geography trips and socials organised, affordable and most importantly enjoyable for everyone. I am someone who thrives with responsibility, loves a challenge and cares about creating the best experience for members.

I am very organised and confident working with budgets and numbers and I would love to bring these skills into managing the societies finances. I would also be excited to learn new skills and the behind the scenes in the functioning and organisation of a society.

If elected I would focus on clear budgeting, communicating with the social and events committee members and find ways to keep costs down while delivering a fun experience. Plus, I would love to support more fundraising and sponsorship opportunities to expand the flexibility of trips and socials.

Hi everyone! I’m Marianne, a first-year BA Geography student running for Treasurer. Having studied Geography, Economics and Maths, I promise I can work with numbers and budgeting - some say this makes me a pretty good candidate ;)

Before university, I worked for a year (hard worker, don’t forget that), which taught me the value of money and the importance of managing it strategically (e.g. making the most of the geog bar tab). I also organised fundraising events for my school’s Eco Committee, which gave me experience in planning and managing finances.

I’ve really enjoyed attending GeogSoc socials this year, especially the Pub Crawl + Maad City night, and as Treasurer, I’d make sure our money is managed responsibly so we can keep running fun socials and events for everyone. Being a mega committed GeogSoc member has shown me what everyone enjoys, and I’d want to keep supporting that, while ofc taking new ideas into consideration.
