Hi I am Feng,

I’m a second year medical student and I would love to join the Brain Leeds committee because I have been really enjoying learning about neuroscience this year and I think Brain Leeds society has done a great job at encouraging students to explore neuroscience further. I attended the National Conference – Matters of the Mind and was inspired by the hard work of the current committee who carried out an excellent day.

I think I would be suitable for the role of co-secretary because I am organised and good at communicating. Although I have not been on a committee before, I am looking forward to taking on a new challenge. I have previous experience of being on school council during sixth form where I helped organise the school yearbook. This involved organising and taking notes during meetings with members of staff, communicating with photographers, keeping records of captions and photos and meeting deadlines. This helped me to develop my time management and attention to detail skills which I can bring to this role.

As co-secretary, I would help the secretary keep the society organised by keeping on top of emails and maintaining the monthly society newsletter. I am a great team player and I will help out in any way I can.

Hi,

My name is Bernice and I have been a Brain Leeds year representative for 2 years! I have really enjoyed being part of this society, publicising our events and assisting in putting on teaching sessions such as the OSCE escape rooms, revision sessions and National Conference, to name a few.

This year, I would like to continue on in Brain Leeds but as co-secretary as I believe that I will be able to further apply the organisation and leadership skills I developed by being Head Girl in sixth form by planning events, scheduling and chairing meetings. As MSRC Sports representative last year, maintaining contact with MSRC affiliated societies, co-organising the Freshers fair and assisting with other society events included the aforementioned skills as well as teamwork and communication, all of which would be applicable to this role as Co-secretary.

Moreover, I am excited to apply my writing skills to the monthly column the secretary and I have been tasked to write, as writing has been something I’ve enjoyed throughout secondary school!

If elected, I really look forward to working as a team with the secretary next year, fulfilling my role to the best of my ability and being part of a committee that wants to further people’s knowledge of neuroscience!
