Hello, I'm Rui Chi, currently in my 3rd year and has just transferred over from Malaysia in September. I'm eager to serve as the Clinical Rep for this academic year.

With a deep-rooted passion for patient care and promoting exposure on this society regarding neurology, I find myself learning new things every day about the connections of neurology and other organ systems, particularly the spine and its relations with the nervous system and would love to gain more knowledge about it alongside all of you.

With your trust and support, I am committed to advocating for the needs of medical students in the clinical years, keen to foster ideas and feedback among the cohorts into further improving specific teachings, mock OSCEs, conferences and talks on portfolio building that are beneficial in these crucial years. I have had some experiences in executive committees in my previous university in Malaysia that can enhance and be advantageous to all us students.

Hi, my name in Lila (short for Evangelia) and I would love to run for clinical representative in Brain Leeds society!

Any aspect of medicine that has to do with the human brain, including Neurology and psychiatry, is a constant source of curiosity and fascination for me.

Having run as pre-clinical representative in PERKS society this year, I have gained much experience on the role and promise to take every responsibility needed.

Regarding my experience, I have enrolled multiple online neurology courses on the EDX platform and shadowed an oncology consultant for 3 weeks in Greece, where I saw the management of patients with brain cancer.

Having volunteered in the children’s oncology department in Athens, I was exposed first-hand to the effects of cancer and particularly brain cancer to the children and their families. Not only did I practice my empathy and communication skills, but I also gained a lot of knowledge on the topic through this 6-month experience.

I am excited for the upcoming events that the society will bring this year and would love to take part in running them.

Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a 2nd year medical student and I’m hoping to apply for the role as a Clinical Rep.

Medicine and in particular neurology have been a passion of mine for many years, and I am currently really enjoying studying it, I find the intricate nature of the human brain and its role in shaping thoughts, emotions, and behavior fascinating. I enjoyed attending the recent brain Leeds conference event and the topics covered further excited my desire to pursue a speciality within neurology or neurosurgery.

I don't have any specific experience in a committee role but I am excited and eager to learn. Over the past few years, I have acted as a mentor for younger students from my previous sixth form applying to medical school, assisting with personal statements, interview prep and involved in mock interviews. Through doing this I always worked in an approachable and friendly manner using good communication. I consider that my strong interpersonal communication skills, my friendly nature, and good presentation skills would help me in the role as Clinical Rep. I am a person who works well in a team and happy to try my best at any task required.

As a clinical rep, I would want to advertise the society events more and be an easily accessible and approachable point of contact for anyone with questions. I am also happy to organise informal meetings in social settings to promote the work of the society.

I felt that everyone I met from the committee at the Leeds conference was approachable and friendly. I feel I would fit in well with the team and it is a society I would feel extremely privileged to be involved with.

In past endeavours I have proved to be a committed individual who is hard-working. I would fully commit to the role of Clinical Rep and willing to prioritise this role in my extra-curricular activities. This role would be extremely important to me, and I would do the best I could in it to promote Brain Leeds.
