I’m a first year student from Cardiff who speaks Welsh and loves Wales! I’m keen to be a part of the Welsh society because I want to ensure its continuation and growth. Given that there isn’t a significant existing Welsh community for students in Leeds, I believe it’s important to transform the Welsh society into a point of call for Welsh students. I’d like to ensure the society’s growth through increasing the frequency of social events such as sports viewings. I’d also like to broaden our horizons some more and plan other events such as a Welsh themed Otley run. I would also love to create some merchandise for the society, including hoodies and hats! I’d definitely think about planning a society trip to North Wales too!
I’d be perfect for this role, using my organisation and communication skills, alongside my love for Wales, to grow this society and Leeds’ Welsh community!


Myfyriwr blwyddyn cyntaf o Gaerdydd ydw i, rwy’n siarad Cymraeg ac yn caru Cymru! Rwy’n frwdfrydig i fod yn rhan o’r gymdeithas Gymraeg gan fy mod i eisiau sicrhau ei barhad a’i dyfiant. Credaf dyle’r gymdeithas gael ei drawsnewid mewn i bwynt galw ar gyfer myryrwyr Cymraeg yn Leeds, yn enwedig gan nad oes cymuned arwyddocaol sy’n bodoli ar y funud. Hoffaf sicrhau tyfiant y gymdeithas trwy gynyddu amlder digwyddiadau cymdeithasol, fel gwylio chwaraeon. Yn ogystal, hoffaf ehangu digwyddiadau cymdeithasol trwy gynllunio digwyddiadau newydd fel ‘Otley run’ Cymraeg. Hoffwn hefyd creu marsiandïaeth i’r gymdeithas fel hwdî’s a hetiau! Byddwn yn sicr yn meddwl am geisio cynllunio trip cymdeithas i Ogledd Cymru! Byddwn i’n berffaith i’r swydd yma, gan ddefnyddio fy sgiliau trefu a chyfathrebu, yn ogystal â fy nghariad o Gymru, i dyfu’r gymdeithas a’r gymuned Cymraeg yn Leeds!

Hi I’m Lydia, I am a second year biochemistry student from Abergavenny. I am excited to run for the position of Secretary for Leeds Uni Welsh Society. I can’t wait to get involved with the society and keeping it organised. I think the Welsh society is a great way to meet new Welsh people and escape the English.
I hope to be on committee next year!
