APPLICATION FOR THE POSITION OF WELFARE SEC, CALSOC

Dear Esteemed Members,

I write tae express ma keen interest in the position of Welfare Sec, a role I feel destiny itself has flung me toward like a ceilidh guest flung across the floor during a particularly aggressive Dashing White Sergeant.

Much like a well-executed Reel of the 51st Division, I believe welfare is about rhythm, trust, and making sure no one feels like a lonely thistle. I will be making sure that the novice who can’t remember the steps yet isn’t left standing on the side-lines; helping them forge connections faster than a Strip the Willow can change direction.

We know Scottish dancing can be tough on the calves (and the quads, and the heart), so in the role of welfare sec, I will be the person reminding everyone that a good warm-up isn’t just for professional athletes. However, should the Foursome Reel prove too much, whether a rogue sprain, a wayward knee, or someone just needs to sit out for a wee breather, I will handle the situation with all the calm of a ceilidh caller navigating a whirlwind of craiters.

Whilst ensuring good spirits, much like the buoyant rhythm of a lively Eightsome Reel, I would also be at the ready with a listening ear from time to time – even if it’s to listen to someone vent about how many times the reel’s been done wrong or how many more jigs, they have got left in them. Akin to the gentle pace of the Gay Gordons, I am committed to ensuring there’s an easy, confidential way to air concerns, safe in the knowledge that these will be handled with tact, respect and diplomacy.

So, it is with great gusto, moderate coordination, and a suspicious amount of tartan, I humbly ask ye tae consider me for the role. I promise tae bring compassion, dedication, and just the right amount of jigging to keep the community smiling, supported, and occasionally slightly breathless.
