I am a first-year economics student with a strong love for yoga and I am applying as treasurer as I want to help the society develop. I believe a key way of achieving this is through ensuring the society has sufficient funds and well organised finances and budget.

I am a qualified Microsoft Office Excel associate and so have a strong knowledge of how financial statements are processed on excel and I am confident and experienced when using it. I believe that this will allow me to maintain precision and consistency when dealing with the finances.

I have experience working with a wide range of corporate financial data through the spring internships I have participated in, including investment banking, professional services, and accounting. I will draw on these experiences to maintain efficiency, accuracy and organisation within the societies funds.

I will be going into my third year studying for a BA in Liberal Arts with a major in Philosophy. It may seem strange that a humanities student would want to work with finances, however, since being at University, I have developed a keen interest in managing money and budgeting well. I would love to further this interest and help the Yoga Society to run efficiently where finances are concerned.

I have been practicing yoga for 5 years and have been a member of the Yoga Society for a year. I am deeply passionate about yoga and wish to ensure money does not get in the way of people practicing it. I feel in-person yoga and retreats are very beneficial to socialise with other yogis and to have a collective experience. I therefore hope to ensure the classes and retreat are accessible to students so we don’t miss out on such opportunities because of financial limitations.

I also wish to ensure the yoga teachers have a good experience and are paid on time so that all parties enjoy being involved with Yoga Society. It is also important to me that members get value for their money so that the society continues to flourish for another year.
