I believe I would be a good welfare sec as this year has not been easy for me personally away from football and university, and I believe that by going through some of these experiences I have become a stronger character and value the importance of team and the support team mates can provide. I have also completed mental health training a few years ago which I believe could be useful in this role and generally am a compassionate person who is good at communicating

Whilst I am running for Secretary to step into a role of higher importance, I have enjoyed welfare secretary more than I imagined or can explain and would love the opportunity to serve the role again as an alternative election.

Welfare has allowed me to become much closer with the team as a whole as well as individual players, something that I am keen to build upon in my second term.

If re-elected, I plan to improve the club's connection with the Will Garvey Foundation, something that I have started to work on this year but I will lean far more heavily on next year.

I hope that I have lived up to the expectations set as the most reasonable player on the team and you are willing to allow me to spam message you after the smallest injury for another season.

Alright lads,

Firstly I want to take the time to take time to explain my personal situation next season and hopefully why this will benefit me if chosen for this position. So as may some of you may know, I was injured earlier this year and have been out for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, the surgery that has been done to correct this has not worked and I'm having metal work done in September this year to hopefully fix what damage has been done. So what this means:
Well unfortunately this means that I also won't be able to play again next year, but every cloud has a silver lining! What struck me about the team ,and with special thanks to last years Welfare Sec Dan, was how supportive you boys have been throughout the process. In that spirit, and given my ongoing first hand experience, I think I'd be a great choice for this role.
What not playing next year allows me to get to know all the players really well (and not just being restricted to position or unit) through means of socials, games and just being a friendly face who is always available.

Furthermore, I believe I am in the ideal position in terms of moving to second year for this role. As I move to the end of first year, I can reflect on the year so far and its unreal how much growing up you have to do as a first year, and how sometimes it can be lonely and daunting, and sometimes a bit scary when you first get into a society like ours, however with just coming to the end of first year I think this puts me in an ideal situation to welcome lads into the team and create a welcoming atmosphere, especially for them freshers who need welcoming into the team and may mind settling into uni difficult.

Finally, as most of you have hopefully realised from speaking to me, I'm a very friendly northerner. I can make conversation with anyone about anything, and I think that is an invaluable skill for this role. Being an approachable person and looking after the team is a privilege I would love to have and think my personality would fit the essential skills, namely approachable, empathic and an all round caring person.

To finish, I'm just going to bullet-point some fresh ideas I have to bring to the role:
-Tieing in S and C with mental health wellbeing (e.g for those who are struggling, I'd make the personal commitment to help them, one method I use when going through a rough patch is using the gym or running to clear my head)
-Work with mental health charities
-Support with injuries wherever I can, things that spring to mind are sharing taxis with injured players to home games, bringing seating (eg Curtis with a broken leg) to home games.
-A little medicine stock for games (it has been noted how often people require pills, painkiller, Imodium etc at games) so thought if one person just had a stash then it takes that stress away.
-Taking time during training and socials to get round players for a check in
