Hey! I am Natalie, a fourth year natural sciences student and am very excited to be running for the social media and publicity secretary role next year. I am keen to raise awareness of korfball to gain new members through engaging posts across social media platforms and at the Welcome Fair. As korfball is often a new sport for many, it is essential to show what a welcoming and inclusive society we are to beginners, which I definitely experienced when I joined last September!

As I have been a social secretary for the Natural Sciences Society, I understand the importance of regular posts to ensure everyone is updated on events, which can increase attendance. From this experience, I also learnt the importance of organisation and creativity, which I am keen to bring to this role too. Similarly, I would organise highlights and posts so our social media pages are easy to navigate and everyone can access the desired information.

As well as details regarding socials, I would post regular match updates including team sheets and most valued players so we can celebrate our successes together. A new idea I would like to implement are day-in-the-life videos on training, matches and BUCs events where korfballers can ‘takeover’ Instagram highlighting fun behind-the-scenes content. I also feel it is important the page is interactive so I would include polls and questions boxes to enable input from the team. As I am likely to be procrastinating writing my dissertation next year, I will be regularly active on social media to answer any questions or to pass on to another committee member. I would also work closely alongside other committee members to ensure all information in communicated clearly.

As I am interested in a career in science communications, I would really enjoy spending time performing this role to the best of my ability. Furthermore, I am keen to give back to the club and grow the korfball community. Thank you for taking the time to consider my application!

Hey guys, I'm Donovan, I've been at Korfball for nearly two years now, and going into my final year(s) at uni, I'd love to have the opportunity to be your social media and publicity sec.

I'm currently a 2nd-year pharmacology student, and in my degree, I am constantly presenting information as well as designing figures for lab experiments, which usually involve rats, giving me plenty of experience in dealing with teams like B*ckett ;).

I discovered Korf and the club through the Instagram page, so I know the importance of the social media pages, welcome fair events in embracing newbies into the Korf family, and maintaining the retention of players.

I believe that if you look good, you'll play good, so hopefully, I can bring some swag to Korfball with edits and graphics so good, that when teams turn up to The Edge to play us, they'll fear our Gryphon logo.

I aim to have active, attractive and articulate social pages that you will be proud to look at, where I aim to be on call to answer any questions, as well as being on hand to make match-day info, team sheets, and game-result graphics. I also want to look into having more game recordings, to celebrate goals and the occasional stinkers, as well as using them to improve our performance. So whether you score 6 goals in a game, or miss 2 pens, I’ll make sure people know about it, so we can all enjoy and celebrate together. An active and attractive social media page also attracts sponsorship opportunities and partnerships too.

I also aim to provide further insight into all elements of the club, through “come with me to..” style videos, along with getting members involved in the content as well if they desire.

If elected I would also work with other committee members to ensure adequate and accurate promotion of their work, by promoting social events, tournaments, and any welfare and wellbeing information.

So whether the "party" is on or off the court, as long as the "balls here" in my hands, I will do my best "shot" and endeavour to "feed" the best content to you guys, because that's what you deserve.
