I want to be the social secretary because I think the social events are significant for the Women in Leadership Society throughout the year to get to know a range of outstanding females on campus. As I outline below, my work experience and background have fostered many competencies I consider imperative for this role.
1. I have organised virtual as well on-campus events during my high school. For instance, I led IB Gala night for the seniors and Habitat for Humanity online talent show, which was a huge success that included over 200 attendees.
2. Before the Pandemic, I was part of the Unicef organisation, where my role was to make posters and tickets for the Girls Gala charity event.
3. Furthermore, I was part of the student council, where I was in a team that organised various events such as Prom, leavers ceremony, Arts festival etc.

I also believe that after being an active member and working closely with the society committee this year as part of the empower conference member, I have a good knowledge of what WILS entails. Therefore I firmly believe I could bring ideas from that and have the organisational skills to manage the responsibility of making them a success! I aim to increase the level of inclusiveness, diversity and social engagement through social events this coming year.
1. For instance, along with current initiatives for women in consulting, finance, stem and arts, I hope to bring women in sports and recognise them for their excellent contribution to their sports fields which can be collaborated with sports societies.
2. Moreover, to expand WILS' diversity, I plan to host an international women's fashion show as a charity event to support local businesswomen or support a global organisation, such as GirlChild Unicef, and Girl Up, on behalf of Leeds University.
3. More social events on increasing professional competencies such as learning to write formal emails, negotiating, public speaking, and LinkedIn photoshoots through formal socials.
4. Self-defence - As we have seen spiking harassment and sexual assault cases around the year, I believe regular classes on self-defence (collab with taekwondo or karate society) will help females in our university be more independent.

With the mentioned experiences as an effective communicator as well as an out-going student with new hopes and aims, I hope you will find me well qualified as your next social secretary.
