I think I will be fantastic at open seat because I am quick to learn variety of things and I love helping everyone. Seeing that I am international student, I always am in Leeds for the study session, even during the Easter and Winter Holidays, therefore I am will be fantastic to help other members of the committee at anytime. Also, I am good at inventory, so I will not lose anyone's Backstage Merchandise. Most Importantly, I have a Fantastic Music Choice!

Hi all, I’m Olivia. I’m going for open seat because I've really enjoyed my first year of being a part of backstage and I want to be more involved in helping run the society. I feel that the role offers a lot of flexibility so I can be helpful wherever I can. I’ve been to committee meetings and been involved in a lot of shows.

I will always be open to help whoever in need and my commitment to backstage could be proved by the 6 shows I designed/will be designing in the rest of the year.

I joined Backstage at the beginning of this year, hoping to gain some experience in theatre and meet new people! I’m a Fine Art student finishing second year, and I’m running for Open Seat. My time spent set designing for High School Musical earlier this year has been one of my highlights of second year, and the people I met and the show we were able to create together really highlighted to me how important the society is. I’m applying for Open Seat because I want to support and assist the society as much as possible and help out in any way I can. I’m keen to try out new things and learn as much as possible about how everything behind the scenes is run and about the other roles – such as more about the tech and equipment - and be a supportive and helpful presence for the rest of committee. My time in the society so far has largely been spent down in the set workshop, and as an art student I can often be found lost in my own world working on a painting. This is part of the reason why the spontaneity and variety of Open Seat is appealing to me, because the wide range of things you can find yourself doing means that each week can pose a new challenge or problem to figure out!
The society has taught me so much about the importance of theatre, and I think it’s hugely important in helping people to both be able to enjoy and get involved in theatre as much as possible while at uni. The ability to be a part of that, as well as learning lots of new skills and taking on new challenges is why I am so enthusiastic to apply for the role.
