Hi, I'm Sehar I’m a current 2nd year with a keen interest in cardiology and cardiothoracics. I'm running for Year 3 Rep because I’d like to make more people in our year aware of how interesting cardiology is and make the speciality more accessible for everyone. As we move into clinical years it would be great to enhance the yr 3 cardio teaching with cardiosoc events. I’m hoping to help make this year’s cardiology events more engaging and useful for all of us. I’d also love to promote the student events hosted by the cardiothoracic surgeons GB society to more students as they offer great insights and resources for anyone considering a career in cardiology or cardiothoracics to get into cardiothoracics/cardiology and hopefully have some events run by them! I’m organised, enthusiastic and passionate about cardiology. Thank you for considering me.

Hey everyone, I’m running to be your Clinical Years Rep for CardioSoc. I’ve always had a soft spot for the heart, so I’d love to help make cardiology more approachable, interesting, and fun for all of us in clinical years. When I’m not on placement, I’m probably scuba diving, catching waves, or out for a run ; things that keep me sane and remind me to breathe (🤪). I’m easygoing, committed, and always up for a good idea. If you’re keen, I’d love your support.

My name's Zahra, a second year medical student, and I'm applying for Clinical Year 3 Rep.

Being a regular attendee for multiple medical societies I've seen incentives that helped specifically engage the clinical years and helped build their portfolios successfully. I'd love to employ similar schemes.

I'd wish to take on everything the third years on my placements said they wish they knew about earlier:
- Early insights in how to build portfolios, and get involved in cardiology relevant audits
- Support on submitting to national meeting like the BCS
- Encouraging certificates and badges for ECG teaching, echo training

Entering our clinical years, introducing shadowing schemes with cardiologists and cardiac physiologists across for people that may have wanted extra exposure clinically could be especially beneficial.

During my time as a 'Social Representative' for Leeds Muslim Medics, I came to appreciate the demanding nature of being member for a medical society. I was involved in the planning and executing of numerous events both educational and social.

I can appreciate the demanding nature of organising and running educational events and believe I have displayed the time-management and organisational skills that the role demands.
