Hi, my name's Amy, I have just finished intercalating in Medical Education this year and I am running to be the publicity sec for CardioSoc 2025/26.
Having spent the last year as the publicity sec for Access 2 Medicine society, I have gained experience in social media promotion, poster design, and event outreach and feel confident I can boost the online presence of CardioSoc this year.
I also have a passion for raising awareness for all things related to cardiovascular health. As the flagship event coordinator for the British Heart Foundation's Restart a Heart initiative at Leeds, I helped to plan events where we trained members of the public in BLS. This experience not only strengthened my organisational and communication skills, but also reinforced the importance of effective publicity in ensuring maximum engagement and attendance.
I am excited about the opportunity to promote cardiovascular education and lifestyle awareness at the University of Leeds and would love to bring energy and creativity to the role of Publicity Secretary.

Hi everyone I’m Maryam, a second year medical student and believe that my skill set as well as experiences would enrich my performance in the role of public and social media secretary for cardiosoc 2025/2026. As a current sponsorship rep for oncology society, I am familiarised with the organisation, dedication and diligence necessary to navigate a medical society. Constantly finding ways to improve and refine society events to better interest other medical students is something I strive to achieve, through social media outreach. Moreover, I am also a volunteer for St John ambulance cadets where I have promoted cardiovascular health as well as conducted simulations such as BLS with paramedics and healthcare workers. Additionally, this volunteering experience has taught me how to work and adapt to high-pressure environments, which has allowed me to develop my communication skills and adapt to fast-paced situations. Furthermore, through volunteering on the stroke ward at Kings college hospital, I was able to promote and share my volunteering experiences with others. This experience has allowed me to become familiar with the most effective ways to advocate events associated with medicine such as cardiovascular health. As well as having a particular interest in photography and videography, I believe that this role is perfect for me to be able to further utilise and experiment with this in order to present cardiosoc in the most engaging and captivating manner.
