My experience as your treasurer this past year has given me the most valuable insight, and so has the rest I’ve thrown myself into! Managing the finances and budget are not the only parts I’ve enjoyed; I have loved communicating with you through announcements, efficiently contacting venues to help organise and run our socials, planning and recording Speak Now: The SwiftSoc Sessions podcast, and so, so much more! You name it, I’ve done it!
Oh, and most importantly, having the best time with you guys: not just members, but family!
The growth of our society has been huge, everything has changed, and I truly believe I am ready to take everything I have learned from the past two years and finally lead SwiftSoc’s transformation.
Even better. Even bolder. Even Swifter.
So, what are my aims?
Alongside the rest of committee, I will continue to provide a variety of socials, which don’t require alcohol to have a good time!
I’m talking many interactive socials! Crafts, games nights, murder mysteries, scavenger hunts, Swiftogeddon, drag nights, more listening parties, and lots of themed events. Oh, and to finally bring Old Bar TV back! Let’s dance like we’re made of starlight.
I also believe it is so important to continue with our SASHA accreditation, so that SwiftSoc remains a safe space.
What else can I bring?
Rest assured, the list is endless:
I would love to provide a weekly well-being drop in for you. A perfect opportunity to raise concerns, ask a question?…, or even just have an informal chat or catch up! Events can sometimes keep us busy, and lost in wonderland, that it’s difficult to properly interact! A relaxed setting will strengthen our community and make you feel more connected as a valued member of the society.
When I first joined SwiftSoc, it was later in the term and I was so nervous before arriving! Therefore, a buddy system, if you think you’d benefit from one, is excellent. Pairing up a committee member with a few members as mini families is a great way to welcome each other and to build our connection even more. Talking in a smaller crowd will help you settle and you will feel more confident to interact with everybody!
You’re not on your own, kid.
Feedback forms will allow us to proactively work on our events with your constructive criticism, letting us adapt them to you guys so that they truly shine! I want your voices to be heard.
As a cheerleader, it is literally my role to bring the energy! I always embrace a positive mindset and I stay resilient in the face of adversity. I am eager to sharing this energy and enthusiasm with you, this love we share for Taylor Swift, and through overseeing all aspects of SwiftSoc. I will channel my inner Showboy to ensure you have the best time in the society. I’d give you my sunshine, give you my best, and lift your spirits when you need some happiness and energy! Of course, I can also bring the calmness when you just want to chill. I am a well-rounded, open-minded individual who has listened to, and will continue to understand, each one of you. After all, I’m only me when I’m with you.
These are ideas our society has not yet implemented; I am ready to decode them.
Just think, if these haven’t happened yet…
Then what else is hidden in the vault?
