My concept of our Society

I believe that the University of Leeds provides a great opportunity for entrepreneurially minded people to develop their skills, networks and passion and that our society can help everyone to discover, explore and fulfill their ambitions in entrepreneurship.

Our society is important for everyone at Leeds, we should support each other and help our members and other people, not just to enjoy their time and pursue their entrepreneurial passion at Leeds, but also to be ready to overcome challenges and adversity and be prepared for life after university.

Together, we will boost the presence and profile of Leeds Entrepreneurs at our University. If elected as president, I will work hard with our committee to make sure that our society will be at the forefront, fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial activities at Leeds.



My Plan

My plan for our society is to make it more active by continuing our successful on-going activities and implementing exciting and fresh ideas.

It will raise our profile on Campus and online by promoting entrepreneurship and greater economic inclusion for people of all backgrounds.

As a society, we should be partners in bringing our vision to life and getting what we want out of Leeds Entrepreneurs. To develop our entrepreneurial community and achieve our aims, we will:

bring in more inspiring speakers and experts from different industries for panel discussions and workshops to help us grow.

Build networks with other societies within Leeds or from other universities in the UK or overseas will help us to grow our networks and resource base.

Work with business leaders, alumni and organisations to help our members make beneficial industry relationships and gain the knowledge and skills which are vital to their development as entrepreneurs.

Take advantage of the platform we have at Leeds to develop the entrepreneurial space for our members, students and the community, by working with our union to put on regular events such as markets and expos.

About me

I am a friendly and approachable student with a strong background in entrepreneurship and business. Before university I was involved in a range of entrepreneurial ventures, I ran an internet café in Oxfordshire, which I co-owned with my brother. I am currently working with the University’s SPARK programme on building a for-profit social enterprise to benefit minoritized and economically excluded creatives.

I love to help others and I believe that strength and success can be found in empowering each other and working together.

As a member of the Board of Trustees at the Leeds University Union (LUU), I have been deeply involved in shaping LUU policy for the next four years, working at high levels to bring about student empowerment on several important issues. I have been working with the Union in addressing important issues such as diversity and inclusion disparities within LUU staff, UCU strike action, National Living Wage Impact, working to ensure that students enjoy their time at Leeds and much more. As such, I am well placed to continue the work of our wonderful society and help us achieve our mission on a bigger scale!

Hi guys, my name is PJ and I’m running for president. Why me? First off, I believe that all entrepreneurship is rooted in the potentiality of the individual. Our job as a society is to create the environment required for the individual to grow and prosper. Having been a member of the society for a year, I have a good understanding of where the club has fell short and where it has succeeded. I aspire to build a society where everyone who has an interest towards entrepreneurship has an outlet to channel their efforts to, make the world a better place one step at a time, and grow to become better, more capable individuals. Working in university, work and life teams have equipped me with the experience required to perform my duties and responsibilities as the president. Combined with my proactive and purposeful nature, I believe I would make a good candidate for president. Entrepreneurship is centred around challenging the individual, something I am deeply passionate about; the role of president would be a great responsibility to whoever becomes incumbent, a responsibility I would strive to achieve if I become president.
