Hi, I’m Oliver! I’m a second year Linguistics student and I’m running for Treasurer of the Linguistics Society. If you vote for me, I will work both publicly and behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running and continuation of the society, into next year and beyond, for the enjoyment of everyone!

In my first year, I was commuting to and from university every day, and found it to be a somewhat isolating experience. Lingsoc was undoubtedly the bridge I had been searching for to connect my studies to a social life, and the memories I have made with people I have met will last me well beyond my time at university.

Before coming to university, I worked full-time in the SEND department of a high school, where much of my time was spent performing admin work to facilitate a productive work environment. Now, I am working part-time in the show security and crowd management field. Both of these roles make me especially aware of the logistics required to form a team and guarantee effective actions within it.

Personally, I would describe myself as a sociable, welcoming person and a devoted team player. I plan on using my skills and experience to inform my decisions as Treasurer so that all society members have the opportunity to take part. I will continue the tradition of regular free socials to minimise costs for members and maximise enjoyment.
