About Me!

Hi, I’m Ava, a Second Year Sociology Student! I discovered Lippy at the end of my first year and was thrilled to join such a creative group. I’m also involved in Ballet, Leeds Think Tank, Vertical Fitness, and Yoga.

I'm passionate about alternative media for their ability to champion creative storytelling and amplify underrepresented voices. In year 11, I founded Not A Trend, focusing on anti-racism and decolonial work in education. Next year, we're launching More Than A Month, our first school programme.

I've admired magazines since seeing my mum in her local fashion magazine in the '80s. They offer a platform to showcase diverse stories, people, and perspectives.

Why Me?
Through Not A Trend and Prom Committee, I've learnt branding, research, and event organisation skills. Recently, I coordinated an all-day Big Education Conversation in central London, handling logistics like venue booking, catering, and marketing materials. I also enjoy hosting gatherings and curating inviting atmospheres where old and new friends can connect over tablescapes and menus.

Key Aims!

Inclusivity and Safe Spaces - creating a welcoming environment will always be the most important, especially for those coming from Marginalised backgrounds

Launch Event - Creating the most exciting and stunning launch event, showcasing the talent of our lippy contributors.

Workshops/ Talks - Having dyslexia, I sometimes feel that writing is inaccessible and intimidating. Sociable and engaging workshops to build people's confidence would be something I would love to introduce.

Socials - A wide range of socials, such as pub nights, bar nights, dancing nights, sober socials, supper clubs, and collaborations, would be events I would love to implement.
