Hailing from Tottenham, London, Solana Aerin Webber is a queer South Asian culture writer and natural exhibitionist with two years of experience as Lippy Magazine’s resident loudmouth (four prints in, so a real yapper). They are no stranger to editorial leadership, having revived and popularised Harris Academy’s previously-defunct newspaper as editor-in-chief and driven a provocative monthly newsletter on the occult elements of cultural coding at Woodhouse College. They are a recovering linguist.

A second-year student with an academic background in both English Language & Linguistics and Cultural & Media Studies (yes, they’re a Libra), they combine an appetite for technicality and precision with a keen eye for aesthetics and criticism of surgical proportions. If writer-bigamist Anaïs Nin has no fans, they are dead.

Raised on the housing estates of London by a single mother — a South African Indian immigrant — Solana Aerin Webber is one of many creatives who straddle the intersection between race and class uncharted at large by white liberal media. Their vision for the magazine is one that uniquely spotlights these perspectives and in turn gives Lippy its reputation for producing journalism that is truly “alternative” and “off-centre.”

In this brand new era, a love for radical publishing is made manifest with the introduction of monthly themed ‘edits’: a social media showcase dedicated to our favourite revolutionaries. Then, in true anti-establishment fashion, the possibility of a student-led database containing accessible PDF formats of theoretical texts and study materials that resists the exclusivity of the academy. The future of Lippy is not neoliberal — it’s loudly, proudly radical.
