The role of the Head of Design is to communicate with artists and designers to produce coherent pieces of work for online and print articles. Fully in charge of designing the layout for the biannual print is the main role of the HoD so access to appropriate software and good graphic design skills are essential. They must be confident taking articles in a document format and jpeg images and producing a cohesive, artistic magazine layout. There is often a tight turnaround so organisation and passion for design is a must. The ideal candidate should be able to communicate effectively with their team to ensure work is delivered on time and in line with writers’ ideas as well as seeking out artwork to fill the magazine where necessary. If you are choosing to apply as co-heads, you will need to make a combined manifesto. Please do not elect yourselves separately as it may skew voting.

This role is intensive in the two week print turnaround period, so if you're keen to apply as a duo who are happy to collaborate creatively and share the load this is encouraged but not necessary! If you don't have access to Adobe, but do still have the skills to use it, do not be put off applying! The Treasurer will source funding for Adobe via a grant.
