As your events officer, I will...

*** Bridge the gap ***
It can be daunting for new members to come to socials! I will go the extra mile to make everyone feel immediately welcome and integrated at events & promote an open and sociable culture to bridge the gap between long-time and new members.

*** Plan Otley runs & Boogaloo socials ***
Makes everyone excited to get involved - especially at the start of each semester

*** Host chill & wholesome socials ***
Run games nights, potlucks, picnics, (everyone knows the way to the heart is through good food), pub trips, discussion groups, group trips to Brudenell and film nights 3

*** Get people volunteering ***
As there are so many politically minded people in Lippy, I also would love to increase engagement in volunteering opportunities run by local organisations or other societies such as Homed. A great way to make friends & expand our community!!

*** Plan more society collabs ***
Book swaps, open mics in Book Club, crafting sessions (t-shirt printing, pottery painting etc) - you name it!

*** Make our launch parties as creative & incredible as ever ***
Some fun ideas are: fortune cookies, anonymous confession jars, lippy Spotify playlists, live readings of poetry, article snippets, “rant for 2 minutes” sections...

Hi, I’m Ottie, a second year Fine Art student with a genuine love for bringing people together. Anyone who knows me knows I thrive on hosting. Planning events down to the smallest detail is something I really enjoy, which is exactly why my birthday is my favourite day of the year.

I’m running for Events Officer because I want every Lippy member to have the most fun they possible can during their short time at uni. I want to create a calendar of events that people genuinely look forward to, whether that is something creative, social, or just a chance to go to the pub with people that aren’t your flatmates.

More than anything, I want members to feel proud to be part of the society and excited to show up. If you are looking for someone who will put real thought, energy, and care into making Lippy a fun and welcoming space, vote for me.

Hello! My name's Bella and I'm so excited to be re-running for Events Officer.

I have absolutely loved being Events Officer this past year and would love to be given the chance to do it again. I'd like to take everything I've learned from budgeting to booking venues and make next year Lippy's best and most social yet! Additionally, as this is a joint role I'd be able to share all my knowledge so far with my new partner, as well as learning from them.

This year I'd particularly like to focus on increasing the amount of charity events we host. We're a great society with brilliant members and I'd like to make the most of that by doing what we can as a community to help some of the amazing organisations in Leeds. I'd also like to continue collaborating with other LUU societies to expand our creative circle and increase Lippy's awareness on campus. I would also like to increase the amount of dress-up events we host and let our members creativity be put to entertaining use!
