Hi I’m Valerie.

I was an art student for 5 years and is currently a digital media student. I’ve spend months using digital editing tools such as photoshop and adobe illustrator to design logos, web banners, posters and even an entire festival campaign including interface design as a part of my degree. I also have certain understanding of the media theoretically if that helps. So I believe I am eligible for this job.

If I got this role I would enjoy informing and entertaining my fellow members and attracting more interesting people to join us.

Hi everyone, I’m Annabel and I’m applying for the position of social media sec!

I am an active member of the club with a strong interest in both badminton and graphic design, keen to help grow the society’s presence and engagement online.

I have experience handling social media accounts on Instagram and I understand the importance of consistent posting and clear communication. I intend to showcase the society’s activities in a way that attracts new members while keeping current members informed and involved.

Hi, my name’s Jude, you may recognise me from playing very poorly at Sunday morning recreational sessions, getting slightly drunk at Wednesday socials, or from that one picture where i'm holding a pigeon that got sent to the badminton chat when I still knew only about 4 peoples names! I joined badminton this year and have thoroughly enjoyed my time so would love to be given the opportunity to get even more involved next year, especially in a committee role that feels so perfectly tailored to my past experience and what I’m passionate about.

I’m going for social media secretary as I spend a lot of my time at uni creating social media content as a part of my other societies (LSTV and LSR) and my degree (Journalism). I’m proficient in the vast majority of the main editing softwares, both video and photo (I need to get a life, don't worry I'm well aware) but most of all I love the creative aspects of content creation and have found a real passion for it since starting at Leeds.

Onto some more boring admin-y stuff, I’ve found relative success with my past content output, gaining over 500K views with two videos across tiktok and instagram for my LSTV campus interviews, where my video about the winter tent not returning influenced Leeds Student Radio, The Gryphon and the Union itself to (lets not say copy for legal reasons) ‘follow the trend’ and create their own versions of the video. My coverage of LEAD LUU won an award from the Union and the reels created as part of my degree performed successfully online considering they were only made as they were genuine assignments (my degree isn’t real, thus I don’t have to lock in despite going into 3rd year, another reason for a vote perhaps…).

I have previous committee experience through other societies so i’m more than aware of what is expected of me stepping into this role, and most of all I just want to help do my bit to promote the society and continue to make sure the society maintains the fun, welcoming environment that I entered into and made my second year just that much better.
