I’m Beatrice, a 2nd year English and art history student intending to study art conservation after graduation. Growing up I was heavily involved in my community, doing things like helping to organise a variety show for a local church and volunteering at monthly community meals. I have always had a desire to be involved in my community, even in school, keen to help on open days so I could talk to future applicants. I feel that as students we have a responsibility to connect to our community in the face of studentification and it is this which makes me the right choice for the role. If elected to be the new community outreach officer I would strive to achieve this, to create a welcoming space for new society members, and aim to expand the number of groups the society already works with. I already have some ideas on who to contact! Leeds deserves our time and I would love to create an avenue for students to give just that.
