Hi Everyone!

My name is Kate, and I’m currently an International Relations student in my first year. I’ve been involved in the Guiding/Scouting movements since I was 7, and have loved being part of LUUSAG this past year.

Over the last 4 months, I’ve taken on the role of Social Sec, which has been a great experience and I’ve learnt a lot! This year I’d love to further this and take on the bigger role of Secretary.

As Secretary, I would ensure that LUUSAG remains inclusive and that communication between Committee and members is frequent and clear. In this role I aim to be someone that members can feel comfortable talking to privately and a support to other committee members when necessary.

Hiya, I’m Hannah, I am a second-year maths student at the University of Leeds, and for the past year I have been the LUUSAG secretary. I feel I should be kept on for this role as over the past year, I have been able to become comfortable with the systems we use in LUUSAG, including using Engage, and the ways our google drive is organised. Over the year, I have begun reaching out to local scout and guide districts in hopes of making connections with them that would benefit LUUSAG. We have started to form a bond with North Leeds Scouts, and I am hoping to strengthen this next year, meaning we might be able to provide LUUSAG with opportunities such as volunteering at events, gaining additional Leader training, and potentially stretching to completing the Duke of Edinburgh awards. Additionally, I have been selected to go to Korea as IST, through this I am part of a ‘crew’ (their term, not mine) which means I can gain more contacts of scouts and guides within Leeds who may wish to work alongside LUUSAG at certain events. On the topic of building connections, next year I plan to work more alongside the SSAGO Rep to gain more involvement in SSAGO – this could be reaching out to other SSAGO clubs to have more in person interactions or gaining opportunities for LUUSAG members to help with the planning of national SSAGO events. One of the main reasons I am wanting to continue on as secretary is being able to watch and help as LUUSAG grows as a society. Being able to grow the society so much in the past year has made me feel awesome to say I had a hand in it all, and hopefully we can do the same next year.
