Hey, I’m Leah and I’m a second year Geography student applying for the role of Quartermaster. I’ll be doing a placement year in Leeds next year so I think that this role will allow me to stay involved with LUUSAG while I’m not studying.

I’ve been involved with Scouting and Guiding since I was 6 when I joined Beavers and since then I have been part of Brownies, Guides, Explorers and now Network and SSAGO. I was a young leader at my old Beaver colony for 4 years and since becoming an adult in Scouting I have taken on the role of District Scout Network Commissioner for my local district. I have also had the opportunity to complete many awards through Scouting including all my DofE awards and most recently my Queen’s Scout Award.

The role of Quartermaster would be well suited to me because I really enjoy organising things and making sure everything is in its place. I’ve also managed equipment in the past through Scouting and at my local canoe club. I hope that I can use this knowledge in the Quartermaster role to make the most of all the equipment we have.

My main aim as Quartermaster would be to create a more formal record of borrowed equipment to ensure it is all returned after events. I helped to document an inventory of everything in the chapel this year and this is something I hope to be able to continue to ensure that everybody knows what equipment is available for them to use. I’ll also have plenty of time on evenings and weekends to keep up to date with equipment records and organise LUUSAG clothing orders.

This is my first year as a member of LUUSAG and my SSAGO highlight so far was Viking Rally. I really enjoyed exploring Newcastle and the silent disco, and even camping in November! I’m also really looking forward to the SSAGO ball. Being Quartermaster will allow me to experience being on a society committee and stay involved with LUUSAG events over the next year and I’m excited to show what I can bring to the role.

Hiya, I’m Hannah and (alongside going for secretary) I’m trying out for the Quartermaster role. This past year I’ve had experience of being on committee and now I’m hoping to expand that to a new role. I already know all the contacts we use to order clothing and badges so organising these should be fairly simple, especially now we have our new logo. Also, I’ve had experience working alongside the treasurer so when it comes to ordering new equipment, it should be easy for us to work together in terms of finding the best stuff for the right price. I am often on campus and am planning to live quite close next year meaning I will have easy access to the chapel and the locker ready for when equipment is needed, being in close proximity will also allow me to keep an up-to-date inventory of everything we have. Should I become quartermaster, I am planning on creating a better system for logging the inventory, allowing us to easily find where things are, whether that be in the locker, chapel, or on loan to someone. The idea will be to create a form members can complete should they ever require equipment, and then we know where it is at all times. Through being in scouting for so long, I have some decent knowledge of all the equipment we need for camps and activities, as well as how to store them which will definitely be useful for being a quartermaster.
