Hi, My name is Suwetha I am a third year medical student and I am very excited to apply for Conference Officer. I have had experience with helping to organise the British Tamil Medical Association's first national conference which was a great success. I am looking forward to hopefully working with Brain Leeds to hold a successful conference this year. I am very good a networking and liasing with different members of committee, organisations and speakers to ensure the smooth running of the conference.

I am excited to submit my candidacy for the role of Conference Officer for the Brain Leeds Society.

I have just started my fifth year of medicine and managed to get neurology as my first placement! I have been making good contacts on the ward and in the field, which could help a lot when organising workshops and speakers for the society.
I would be particularly interested in arranging events in neuropsychology. It is an exciting area that is often not touched on in medical school, but students often love learning about how the brain affects our everyday behaviour and cognition, and the bizarre cases that can present when these pathways go wrong.

Aside from an academic interest in neurology, I have had some experience in organising/ running events at the University as a Student Ambassador- these have ranged from medicine taster days to Interview practice courses.

Hi I’m Nithi, I’m a second year medical student and I’ve love to be one of BrainLeeds’ conference officers for this year. After examining for the society’s mock MMI course last year, I am eager to be more involved with organising events, including the annual conference. My diverse experience with founding and leading a discussion group in school, helping to organise various charity events and teaching dance classes has led me to become well-versed with the coordination skills needed for this role. More recently, helping to deliver ‘A Career in Medicine’ course at the undergraduate hub at LTH (St James’ Hospital) has given me more insight into the mechanisms behind bringing plans to action and further strengthened my communication skills. I believe I can be a creative contribution to the society and I look forward to working with the committee to create an exciting year of opportunities!

I am deeply passionate about becoming a neurosurgeon. Every day, my enthusiasm grows as I immerse myself in new cases, explore cutting-edge technology, and follow the latest developments in the field. The complexity of the human brain fascinates me, and I’m drawn to the immense responsibility neurosurgeons have in making life-changing decisions. I aspire to be part of this process, even as a medical student, which has motivated me to engage in various research projects across neurosurgery, neurology, and the neurosciences. These include clinical audits, systematic reviews, and an ongoing umbrella review. I’ve also had the privilege of presenting at student workshops, and soon, I will present a paper at an international neurosurgery conference.

In addition to research, I thoroughly enjoy working with teams and organizing large-scale events. I’ve successfully coordinated events for hundreds of participants and found it both challenging and rewarding. After attending NANSIG’s neurosurgery skills workshop for medical students, I was impressed by the role of the conference officer, despite its complexities. This experience confirmed my desire to take on a leadership role in organizing such events. I’m excited by the opportunity to combine my passion for neurosurgery with teamwork and event management, driving progress in both areas.

Hi! My name is Thelaxini, and I am a 3rd year medical student with a budding interest in neurology, and would like to join the committee this year as Conference Officer.

I believe I have the necessary skills to fulfil the role, as I have previously acted as Secretary in another society. I was a point of contact for any queries, gathered feedback from our events and brainstormed ideas of how we could improve, and liaison with other societies. I aim to create a comfortable environment for feedback and ensure we are continuing to facilitate useful and enjoyable events.

With this previous experience and my optimism, I am confident that I would be a great asset to the team.
